Fun way for preschoolers to learn!
This is a fun, interactive way for preschoolers to learn. My 4 year old wants to do these activity card sets every day after lunch and I think she likes it more because of the Pete the cat pen makes it more fun! The activity card sets includes a variety of different questions for preschoolers like letters, numbers, critical thinking, etc. She completes (by her own choice) one card set after lunch before her nap/quiet time! I think these card sets are perfect to do every day but especially during summer and winter breaks to make sure kids don’t forget what they have been learning. The rewards stickers and award certificate are cute ways to encourage and reward kids. I will definitely buy more sets for her as she gets older and my younger sister will also greatly benefit from these sets as well. I love when learning happens while having fun and these activity card sets are a fun way for preschoolers to learn!

Daughter loved it.
I bought the Preschool version for my daughter who just turned 5 and started Kindergarten. She was super excited to try it out and we went through the two books in one sitting. I thought that would be the end of it but she still enjoys playing with the books on her own. She likes Pete the Cat pen and the two different sounds it makes. I went ahead and purchased a few of the other Hot Dots materials but I really like this one because it's a book style and it's easier to take on the go compared to flash cards. I plan on buying the Kindergarten version soon.

A little too easy for him but that's my fault because I purchased ...
Bought this as a birthday present for my 5 year old, Pre-K, nephew. A little too easy for him but that's my fault because I purchased the 3-4 year old set. Didn't realize this until after it arrived. Product is ok...The pen works good but you have to hit the black dot directly on it in order for it to light up green...indicating a correct answer. Even if he selects the correct answer but doesn't hit right on the black dot it lights up red saying he' s wrong. Also, every question has to be read, unless the pre-k child can read. So using this definitely requires adult assistance. It's not something you can just give them and let them be. Otherwise they're not getting the intended educational use! He loves Pete the Cat and enjoyed working through the book and the product overall is cute and fun so I guess it's a win!

This is perfect for her
My 3.5 year old loves pete the cat and we wanted to get her something that was a little more involved than just books. This is perfect for her. She loves doing the different activity cards. WE also like that it involves her favorite book character with something educational. She has always been advanced for her age and we have trouble finding things that challenge her but that are still doable and this was the perfect solution for us. She likes that she feels independent doing it (we still have to read her the directions on the cards). We will probably look into getting more hot dot products for her in the future.

pete the cat and hot dots: a "groovy" combination ;)
I bought this as a gift for my mom who is a pre-k teacher and she loved it! she has used the hot dots in previous grades/classes so she was already familiar with how it works. for review purposes I asked how simple it was and she stated it was easy to use even if you are not familiar with hot dots and that she thought it would be fun for kids prior to starting pre-k, too. if you don't know about Pete the cat, you're missing out!!!

Perfect for a 2.5 year old!
My 2.5yo says, "I love it dada, I love it!" She has gone through the entire books, both of them, in a single hour long sitting, which is crazy for a kid that age. And then she did it all again a couple days later.

Educational, easy to use
I liked that it was very interactive and easy for my daughter to understand. I bought this for her before going into pre-k and she liked these “brain games”. Was excited for herself when she got something correct as Pete Pen cheered her on! Such a great gift for dexterity, fine motor skills & Intro to words, patterns, opposites, etc.

Pete lost his groove…
The media could not be loaded. Much beloved toy, until (about a year after purchasing) Pete decided he’s a toddler now and will say NO to everything. He’s impressively sturdy and well-made, has a normal-size screw to get to the batteries (not the annoying tiny ones that you strip the very first time you try to unscrew them…) and even brand-name batteries included. Still, our friend has decided he’s going to refuse to show us the right answers from now on. Everything is wrong. Maybe he’s depressed from sitting at home for a whole year… I know how he feels. Not groovy.

Bonito
Me había desencantado con el libro de Preescolar 2 que me salió defectuoso (marcaba casi todas las respuestas incorrectas), pero este de Preescolar 1 llegó perfecto, funciona bien y le encanta a mi hijo.

Cute, but...
This is really cute. And I feel like the concept is pretty neat. My almost 4 year old loved it and understood how to use it easily. But, at almost $50 after tax, I was expecting more. It said there are 200 activities, this sounds like a lot, but it was 2 small spiral bound books that my child was breezing through fast, until that is, he got a wrong answer, Pete's eyes (on the pen) lit up red (granted they do look a little creepy) and scared the pants off my kid. Now I'm 50 bucks out on 2 little notebooks that he won't even look at.PSA: Pete the Cat, not for the faint of heart, apparently.
