I don't eat on my floors.
I feel the need to write this review because of all the crazy reviews I read while trying to decide if I wanted a steam mop, and which kind. I always seek reviews in a variety of places when I'm considering a new purchase, and this is the ONLY product I have ever been so confused about. The reviews are insane! They seem mostly to be written by people with muddy feet, 6 dogs, and they mop twice a day. Those same people also seem to want to feel comfortable serving dinner directly off the floor. That is NOT me. I keep a tidy home; I have 2 little girls, no pets; I mop when necessary (I'll go 2 or 3 weeks if I can get away with it); and we typically dine at the table. So, here is my review: The Bissell Deluxe Steam Mop works great. I love that I do not have to deal with dirty mop water and measuring chemicals. The cord seems plenty long enough, and my rooms are large and extra large. It takes a few seconds to warm up, and a few more seconds to get the steam to the mop head...which is perfectly fine with me. It gets my floor lightly wet, less than my traditional mop because I was never patient enough to ring it out thoroughly. If I come across yucky-dried-on-the-floor food, I hold the steam mop over it for a few seconds (no more than 15), run it back and forth a few times over the area, and the floor is clean. I don't hold the steam button down the entire time I clean, but off and on as necessary. The longer you hold it, the more water it uses. So, depending on the type of cleaner you are, and the type of junk on your floor, the water may need to be refilled. My steam mop came with two washable pads that are easy to put on, pull off, and throw in the washing machine. So, basically, in my opinion, the steam mop that I bought at Target (on sale for $89 and their promotion gave me a gift card of $20 with the purchase) a few weeks ago is MUCH better than a traditional mop.Other things to note:-Get one with a removable water tank so that it's easy to fill.-I'm sure all of the Steam Mops work just fine. Unless you expect a miracle, of course. It's just a mop. It's still work. Just find one that suits your tastes and price range.-My one year old is allergic to milk and peanuts, and that is why I looked into a steam mop. She's also the child guilty of causing carrots, peas, and greenbeans to dry like concrete on the tile floor.-I would have given the Bissell Deluxe Steam Mop 5 Stars IF it was a robot and all I had to do was push a button. But the mopping robots are too expensive and have horrible reviews. Again, this steam mop works great.-My home has hardwood floors and ceramic tile floors.-I like that the steam mop head turns and bends to fit under and around ANYTHING. Impressive.-I probably could eat off my floors in the few seconds after steam mopping. I still wouldn't. And I don't require that from my mop.Just a note: I have a iRobot Roomba vacuuming robot. I can't imagine life without it. It does require emptying the bin and cleaning off the rollers after almost every use, but it works AMAZING and saves a ton of time and effort with cleaning. I run it several times a week.Update 7/31/2014: Mop finally died a few months ago. The light just finally went out. So, I promptly ordered the exact replacement from Amazon and it's worked beautifully too. I have added 1 more little girl, a dog, a Nana, and a college student living with me now and we all love the ease of this steam mop. Also, we've gotten rid of carpet and replaced with hardwoods. I dont use chemicals on hardwoods, but I do use the steam mop with only a quick boost of steam every now and then.

Push Button steam. Nice added attachment for carpet steaming.
We have had great experiences with bissell products so when I saw they make a floor steamer I knew I would most likely choose theirs. The big selling point is the push button steam. Shark you must continually pump (have also read that shark handles break easily). My sister owns a shark and I've used it on several occasions. I would say the shark and the bissell work equally as well but the shark is more work. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that this model comes with an attachment for steaming your carpets. This deluxe bissell also comes with a bottle of eucalyptus scented water. I haven't tried it yet because I think it would be best for carpet refreshing. The deluxe pads are very plush (they are difficult to glide across the floor when first beginning to clean). I read lots of reviews and I believe this steamer is a great purchase.

Good sturdy steam mop from Amazon
This steam mop has its own personality. more like a Dodge Ram truck compared to a Kia Rio in the steam mop family. The swivel head makes it easy to move into corners and under cabinets. The water cup is easy to fill and use. The weight of this mop has the pros and cons - its a little hard on older wrists but gives added cleaning pressure. The steam works well enough once it warmed properly and gets over the noise but I would recommend being careful on the plank manufactured flooring many of us are using nowadays - easy to have too much moisture.Over all, its a good mop and feels like it will last longer than the two Sharks I've previously owned.1/21/2014-Wrong! All that was said above was true - for less than two months. Then it began leaking and tossing water out. Never could find from where and nothing we do could fix it. So got a Shark Pro, three settings, and will see how it works. Great - so far. ;-)

Good but watch how you store it
I am subletting an apartment with beautiful light colored wood flooring. Unfortunately, every time it rains, footprints magically appear on the light floors and a swiffer just doesn't cut it anymore.I purchased this, having had Bissells in the past. I love it. It easily cleans my floors, doesn't streak, leaves things shiny and clean. Please note that you cannot store it with liquid in the tank. I suspected this, just based on the constriction of the item. So after I used it, I propped it in a corner instead of my cleaning closet. Good idea - as it leaked out half a tank worth of liquid. On the up side, it was distilled water - it didn't exactly hurt anything. Just make a note to always store it with an empty tank. If you don't use the entire tank, take it off and store the tank separately and with the "lid" upright. Problem solved.Really, this does make sense, but I'm glad I tested it before having to clean out a closet. ;-)Other than making a note of storage technique, this product met all my expectations.

Third Choice, Best Choice
I hate mopping. Put water down, mop water up. I purchased the Bissell after reading CR's recommendation for steam mops. The Bissell was their third choice. It did mention that it would leave water on the floor but the amount was very minute. I thoroughly enjoyed using it because I did not have to remove excessive water. I was able to do four rooms on one tank. The only thing I thought was overdone was the ad showing steam coming out of it while cleaning. Did not happen. The mop head was hot so I know it was doing its job. I am still very, very, very happy with it.

Great shopping experience
When it was delivered, a part was cracked. I called Amazon, and overnight, I received a perfect product! I love the Bissell Steam Mop, and my shopping experience with Amazon! After using the steam mop for 9 months, was making a clunking sound, and producing no steam. Amazon gave me the number of Bissell, and Trista and I did trouble shooting. As, it turned out, because I don't use my steam mop often enough, the water had a difficult time working its way down the machine. When I set it all up for Trista to walk me through it, it began working again. I am so happy. I love my Bissell Steam Mop, and will use it more frequently. I am one happy customer!
