If I applied this to an old redwood colored composite deck would the color change to a brown tone? I would like to change it to a more brown color?

We applied this to a mahagony colored composite deck. It turned out to be more redwood than it was before. We were very happy with our outcome.

how many square feet will 1 gallon cover?

I depends how much will absorb to the blanks. I used the same product last year in a very old Trex decking (the top layer was going to saw dust:)) and was only able to cover approx. 12 x 20 area with a gallon. Did other job year earlier on a deck that was in much better shape and was able to cover double of the area.

I currently have a brown composite deck. If I get the grey tone will it cover the brown? Wasn't sure if this is more of a clear-type coating

Once it dried on my blush colored deck (from fading), the brown was more like a wash. It seemed a bit transparent. It also did not cover evenly; definitely more dense in some spots than others. I am considering doing a second coat this spring. I would recommend going from one end of the deck boards to the other. Don't do square sections, as the overlap will be darker in places.

How many sq ft does one gallon can cover?

Depends on how porous your decking is. I used 4 cans on a 16x20 deck
