Loved it
This review is by my son Ravi who is 6 years old: it was really good book. I liked that in the end she made lots and lots of friends even though at the start of the book she was not making any friends. So if I see someone who looks lonely and does not have friends, I will ask them "whats wrong?" And if he or she says that they are lonely and does not have friends, i will ask them to play with me. And if they say yes, I will play with them.

A brilliant story but read my comment.
I bought this book for my toddler who was nervous about starting nursery as I thought it would explain about making friends. I would say it’s not suitable for this scenario (for children starting nursery), as it’s more about a little girl who struggles to make friends, as she’s ‘different’ to the other children. She’s an incredibly special little girl who has a gift for making things, but she likes to make things on her own rather than with other people as she feels that other people can’t make things as well. She often finds herself alone at parties and feels uncomfortable and hides, until a little boy approaches her who is very similar to her. She lets him help and then they become friends. I’d say it would be a good book if your child is similar to this and has struggled with friendship previously, as the message is that it’s ok to be different, as there ARE other people like you out there. However, for a nursery child who has never made friends before it’s not the right book, as it suggests making friends is difficult. I hope that makes sense.

Wonderful story
Absolutely love this story! The story sounds so much like my autistic daughter. Hoping that it will help her understand that she just needs to be herself. Honestly the sweetest book I've ever read. 100% recommend it. Tom Percival is becoming a firm favourite here!

Beautiful book
Firstly I want to say how well Amazon handled my complaint, when I purchased this book that was New and it arrived to me, looking used! They sent me a new copy straight away! So five star for service too! This book is beautiful, I highly recommend as I brought it for my daughter (6yrs), as she’s quite a shy and quiet individual. It really connected with her, as she has a passion for arts & crafts too. It’s at a level that it’s easy for her to understand and encourages her how she can make new friends.

Wonderful Book for Teaching Kids How to Make and Keep Friends
This book was exactly what my son needed. How to Be a Friend breaks down friendship skills in a fun, easy-to-understand way. The illustrations kept him engaged, and the real-life examples helped him understand how to be kind, take turns, handle disagreements, and build real friendships. It’s not just cute, it’s practical. We had meaningful conversations after reading it together, and I’ve already seen him applying what he’s learned at school and on the playground. If you’re looking for a social skills book for kids or a helpful resource to teach children how to be a good friend, this one is a must-have. Highly recommend for parents, teachers, or counselors working with elementary-aged kids!

Great Book about Friendship
Making friends is not always easy. It takes time, trust, and finding common ground. I love that this book showcases both the joy and struggles in making and keeping friends. This would be a great book to add to your SEL book collection or books about friendship.
