KitchenAid KitchenAid 16" Aluminized Steel Roaster with Rack - Nonstick

My wife, Robinette is writing this review. My 4 stars are based on a recent purchase and a long history with KitchenAid products--All of them. I haven't used it yet. However, I would like to share some insights I have with first time users for the upcoming holidays. Sounds like the base handles are a problem. Fashion a wad of foil around the handle before it goes in the oven to extend the handle far enough from the sides of the pan.Biggest reason I bought this roaster is the design. I'm Grandma++. My daughter was born when I was 30, her daughter was born when she was 33. They lived on the east coast. Yep that's why all my old big roasters are gone--I need a new one because--Lo and behold they are all back here on the west coast and we couldn't be happier and now I'm cooking a large turkey. My husband is in a large power wheel chair--we can't get into many private homes. Our kids are still remodeling to make their homes accessible. We will have a big crew here for the first time in years. This seems like a round about way to get to the whys. I am a woman of limited strength.SOO--You put the turkey on the inner rack, Handles!you put the base of the roaster on the oven rack (Reynolds wrap the center of the handles.)you put the racked turkey in the base roaster and slide the oven rack in. Catchy tune if you got my drift! By the time the turkey is done there should be enough big people around to muscle it out of the oven! Thanks for listening/reading.

I'm so glad I finally sucked it up and bought a good size roasting pan. I've found myself always hosting every holiday and family celebrations this past year and was needing one large size pan instead of having to separate everything into two smaller baking pans.THE GOOD: This is fantastic for anything from a 20lb turkey to 12 lbs of brisket. Clean up is ridiculously simple. No scrubbing required. I usually just wipe this down with warm soapy water and it's done! Huge time saver.THE BAD: Most every other reviewer mentioned the issue with the handles, so it wasn't a surprise to me. It's honestly NOT THAT difficult to just turn the pan to get a better angle to scoop up the handles in order to carry from the handles if that's what you insist on doing. Otherwise, you can still just carry it like any other baking pan. Alternatively, you could roll some aluminum foil around each handle before placing in oven, such that the handles are propped up a smidge from the sides to make it easier once done. The other roasting pan options available with static handles, make it difficult to store with pan efficiently. As such, I prefer the fold down handles regardless, so I don't have to worry about where to store this.

Made Christmas ham and a turkey in this bad boy! The turkey looked like it was cooked by the gods by the way.... Anyways! It's extremely durable, thick and totally nonstick and cleaning up was a breeze with all the drippings easily washing away even after having sat out for a while. The weird thing is the handles though.... they are very very hard to grab with just normal oven mitts, I had to grab a utensil to pull it up to get a good grip on it.... very concerning considering this roaster is intended for very large (aka heavy) meats that would require adequate handling. It may look nice and be easier to store with the handles hidden... but just not very practical. This is the only reason I do not give it 5 stars.

I really enjoy using this pan and I love the insert. I had a different type of roaster before and it was quite limiting in size and shape and I do not think it spread the heat as well as this one does. My only complaint is that the handles are loose which is great if you have to squeeze it in there but hard to get ahold of with oven mitts.

MAYBE I SHOULD HAVE RATED THIS PAN HIGHER. IT IS A NICE PAN AND A SNAP TO CLEAN. MEDIUM WEIGHT. MY ISSUE WITH IT LIES WITH THE HANDLES, THEY WORK OUT NICELY TO PUT A HEAVY TURKEY IN THE BUT GETTING IT OUT IS QUITE ANOTHER STORY.. OVEN MITTS POT HOLDERS SILICONE GRABS REALLY DOESN'T MATTER IT IS PRACTICALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO GET A HOLD OF THE HANDLES IN A HOT OVEN..

I was disappointed with the handles, especially when you have a turkey (or ham) that is heavy and with much effort to get out of the oven. I used this once and put it back in the pantry. I don't trust the handles that are hard to lift from its side positioning when you are wearing mitts - I would not buy this type product again - I would make sure I see it first before making a decision.

While this is a nice spacious roaster, I wish I would have gone stainless steel. I wasn't thinking of how a nonstick pan Browns things more quickly. This doesn't fare well with my deconstructed turkey recipe. Amazon's packaging was fine but the manufacturer did not do well protecting the pan from the rack. It arrived with 2 small dents from the rack in the roaster. Again this was not the Amazon packaging. It will work but I can only 3 star this product for my needs.

Fantastic. Nothing sticks to either rack or pan. Even distribution of heat. Beautifully cooked and browned turkey and Chateaubriand roast.Unusual in the world of non-stick cook and bake-ware. Easy cleanup and I will not have to use disposable pans( I call disposable pans " lazy pans" but they do save clean-up time) which harm the planet as they go into the landfill. Yippee. I hope this is my magic cure for after holiday meal clean-up.
