The media could not be loaded.  This is a nice expansion pack, however I was unclear that it only includes enough pieces to just make the figure 8. What you see on the front of the box is not all that is included. What is in the box is 4 curve pieces, 4 mini straights, or half regular straight track pieces, and the crossing. In order to actually complete the set you will need 8 more curve track pieces and 4 regular straight pieces. Most of Lionel's starter sets which luckily I had have enough pieces included to combine with this box set to complete the figure 8. It works fine, Although the crossing can be a problem depending on what engine you have running across it. The Polar Express set I tested out worked pretty well as it only had stopped once going across the crossing. But not sure if the other trains will have the same luck as other reviews have reported problems with other trains. Would I buy again, absolutely. It does really change the look and is better than a traditional oval by far. However for $75 I wish it was the complete oval not just enough pieces to make the oval. Overall would buy again

Make sure to read the packaging first which indicates that this is an ADD ON pack, meaning you don't get the full figure 8 in the box (maybe you all got this right away, but I didn't). Further, it says it's an add on for your existing ready to run track. However, this isn't so. Not in my case, anyway. I tried connecting the 8 track add on to my existing ready to run Thomas set (for my son, of course). I was still missing two 10 inch straight track sections to make the full figure 8. Luckily, I also bought an activator pack to run an accessory (which I couldn't figure out how to wire, not that you probably care), which consisted of one 10 inch straight track and two 5 inch straight track sections. My point is that I STILL needed the three activator track pieces to complete the figure 8, despite the fact that the figure 8 product description says it's an add on for an existing ready to run set. Maybe some of the other ready to run sets DO have the two extra 10 inch sections of track. Thomas didn't.Overall though, I think this is a great product. Sturdy, reliable. Very easy to set up. I took away a star because the packaging and product description are not as clear as they should be.
