Excellent Nano Skimmer

I did not know if this was going to work but I figured for the price I would give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised as to how well this skimmer actually works. It started producing foam immediately but I adjusted the air intake and let it run for 12 hours before I started collecting waste. I hooked up a cheap air pump with silicone tubbing and the air regulator in series. You just need to adjust the bubbles to bubble about midway to the top and let it run. Eventually the bubbles will start pulling the waste and produce foam which will raise to the top and start collecting in the collection cup. You can not remove the collection cup but it has a little spout you can connect to a cup with tubbing.

Upgrade the airstone and get an adjustable air pump. Then it works great for nano salt tanks.

Does what you would expect, just buy an air pump. When hooking it up make sure to use a check valve and relief valve (both should come with your pump), otherwise you could get a reverse siphon. Raise or lower to adjust dry/wet skim. Use the relief valve too control amount/rate of air bubbles. Initially you may see periodic larger bubbles escaping from the bottom, but that goes away after a day or two.

Set up easy, fits perfectly in the back of my 3 gallon rimless reef tank. Had to cut the sponge at the bottom to fit how I like it also filled sides with bio balls. Took less than 10/15 mins also adjusting the air was a breeze for me may purchase another for another mini reef I want to set up later.

For the money and price this skimmer works really good for tanks up to 35g

I've tried *many* nano skimmers. Most are over a $100 and have mediocre results largely from a undersized internal pump. This one is great because its driven from an external air pump and you can size based on need. I have this in my Innovative Marine 20G and its in one of the chambers and is doing a good job. I already was running an airstone because salt water tanks need extra oxygen so I just replaced the stone with the skimmer and I was done.

I've had the skimmer for a couple weeks, and while it first it took some.adjuting to get it to work correctly. Its doing a great job cleaning up my 20 gallon saltwater cube.
