DON'T purchase this book for your E-reader~
If you are going to read this great book, buy the paperback! I am SO frustrated and disappointed because I got this book to read on my Kindle Fire but the maps and family trees included in the front of the book can not be read on the Kindle. The print is too small and blurry and the story makes NO sense if you can't refer to the maps and family connections. DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK FOR YOUR KINDLE. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND FRUSTRATION. I would love a refund so I could just go get the paperback and enjoy a good read!!!!!!

A familiar story with a clever twist
I loved this interwoven well-written historical tale that takes place over 350 years. The author took the story of The Mayflower, which most of us are familiar with, and brought it forward to the 21st century with a murder mystery, family disputes and intrigue. Living on Cape Cod it was especiallly fun to read about places that I recognize. There was a serious amount of research done, the result of which is a book based on historical facts but with some fanciful intrigue thrown in to entertain.Anyone who appreciates a good historical novel with some meat to it will enjoy this, especially if you have a Cape Cod connection!

Who doesn't love a Cape Cod mystery?
Cape Cod was a walk back into American history with the founders. It was also a walk in the shoes of their descendants, contemporary Cape Codders and real estate developers caught on the horns of a dilemma...sell or conserve our unique arm of land. I thoroughly enjoyed the parallel stories and the murder mystery on the Mayflower.

CAPE COD by Willaim Martin
Another fantastic read by this wonderful author. History comes alive. One learns a lot by reading his books. We learn that the Pilgrims were just like us except they had nothing except their desire to make a better life and a deep abiding faith in their Lord. It is always amazing to me how humans can treat each other--just because one does not believe as I do does that mean we must cause harm to them. This book is one tense moment to another and just when you think you have figured it our here comes another Martin wave to wash your thoughts away to replace it with another Martin wave of intrigue and suspense. There is also many tender moments. A lot of beach time and enjoying the scenery. Everyone needs to take some of this time for themselves--look out at life as you read this book and count your blessings. We were founded by some very intelligent people who brought many good ideas with them. Mr. Martin's book should be a must read for every American.

A good read
A very good historical read - but, a bit long (run on with too much insignificant conversation) but otherwise historically informative and interesting. I'm a MA native but this was recommended to me by a Cape Cod native and likely was more meaningful to him.

Fantastic book, being a Cape Codder I love reading books about cape cod, my family name originated in England and this is talking about when we immigrated to the cape.

This book is incredible and enduring - the author an amazing talent. I keep my book journal on my desk with the names of all authors that I check on occasionally for new offerings - and William Martin has soared to the top of the list. His characters are full bodied, flawed, human, believable and impossible to leave. The history is infallible and tangible. The story line is akin to your own family history. This book is over 700 pages and I felt like I flew through the centuries and grieved when it was through. I then purchased ALL his other books. This man has an amazing talent and you will do a disservice to your reading life if you miss out on his books. Please read!
