this should be standard in all gyms
i first saw the BOSU at the gym i work out, and i knew i wanted one for my home. i purchased this professional model for my home over the home model because i read that home model isn't built as well. this one appears identical to the one at my NYSC gym and i am very happy about that. the ball is easy to inflate with the included foot pump. the included instructional DVD includes a lot of exercises. the base doesn't slip at all due to a MASSIVE circular rubber foot that is made out of some super sticky kind of rubber. the ball surface itself is also very nice and not slippery at all - it feels soft, but durable. the ball and base definitely feel professional quality. doing crunches on the ball feels perfect - almost like getting tazered in the stomach or something. i also did bench press with lighter dumbbells on the ball and it felt very good as well. the ONLY downside i can think of is that when you switch from standing exercises to reclining exercises you may want to wipe the dirt off with a moist paper towel. depending on how clean your shoes are or how dirty your shirt is you may not need to do this, but i found myself doing it. another word of warning i would give is that, because of the constant balancing, it is actually a lot of stress on the ankle to be standing on the BOSU with one foot. this may be good or bad depending on what you're looking for. if you are a young hiker or basketball player perhaps you will enjoy strengthening your ankles, but if you are an older person with problematic ankles you may hurt them. i happen to have a bad ankle so i don't use the BOSU for standing exercises, but that's not the fault of the ball, and i am quite happy with the other exercises i can do on it. in addition to included DVD, you can easily find tons of BOSU exercises on youtube, and i recommend you do so. finally if you're looking to get it for a commercial gym, i saw people in my gym using it as something to sit on between sets. basically it is so versatile in a commercial gym it is guaranteed to find many uses. for home it is quite a large piece of equipment so it may not be for everybody, but i find that it is worth it for me, as you can put it just about anywhere when not in use - i just store mine upside down on whichever couch is not used. for long term storage, or transportation, it could be deflated to quite a flat shape, but i keep mine aired up and ready to use. yes i recommend it and would buy it again. it is my second most favorite piece of home exercise equipment after my PowerBlock Urethane Dumbbells.

Got my own
I'm still in denial about it, but I'm getting old and losing balance. I had never considered a "yoga" ball until I saw a lady doing a workout on a Bosu Ball at LA Fitness. I did not realize how bad my balance was until I attempted to copy some of her moves. Gravity sucks; it's a good thing I can still take some tumbles. My neighbor is a Super Bowl Ring-wearing former NFL and CFL coach with whom I share occasional walks and rides. I figured he'd be the right guy to ask about Bosu Balls for balance. Good call. He had a dusty, flat Bosu Ball sitting in his garage that he said I could use. It cleaned up nicely and became a part of my daily regimen. The Bosu Ball alone can provide a good workout; and, I can tell the difference in my balance. Helping to keep those neurons and muscles working. While working with the loaner Bosu Ball, my daughter had a baby. She started using the Bosu Ball as part of her recovery routine. I've also incorporated the Bosu Ball into my baby workout routine. Like, Bosu Ball Baby situps. Cradle the baby in your arms while you do your Bosu Ball situps. Baby loves it; wears out Grandpa. I think there's a training video in there somewhere; maybe we'll see you on YouTube ;). Meanwhile, my friend started to develop problems in his lower back and is trying to avoid surgery. I mentioned to him that the BOSU Ball provides good support for stretching my back; so, maybe it was time I return his Bosu Ball and buy my own. With a new purpose, he's a new convert to his old Bosu Ball. At home, my Bosu Ball Pro Balance Trainer arrived today, is pumped, and has already wore me out. A negative: Bosu charges for and passes the cost of printing and burning training materials to the customer. The Bosu Ball came with instructions on how to pump up the Bosu Ball. If you want training resources, you will have to register on the Bosu website, buy and download the training resources, and print or burn them yourself. I found a small crumpled piece of paper in the box that had a coupon code in 8 point type that I could use to download digital files for training DVDs, a 120-page training guide, and two wall posters. As much as I appreciate the digital downloads, I'm disappointed that the product comes with neither a printed training guide nor a training DVD. I paid a premium price for a premium product, and the company is passing the cost of printing and burning to me. For those who do not receive or cannot locate the coupon code buried in the box, Bosu charges $20 to $25 for each media item you want, and you'll still have to print and burn them on your own. Regardless of the disappointing follow-through, the product itself deserves five stars.

Love it
It works exactly as it should. I know they have various versions of the Bosu and I've used a couple of them. This version is great. I like that it's black so you don't see the scuffs as easily as you do with the blue versions.

Best piece of equipment I purchased to fight the middle age spread!
Tired of just doing step aerobics, I thought of using the Bosu ball as an addition to my routine. I admit I had hesitation about purchasing it because of the negative issues with the pump. I had used it at the gym, and thanks to it and cutting out sodas, I lost fifteen pounds and inches thanjs to the Bosu ball. I sweated a lot, and really had to focus on balance. All this, I feel contributed to my success in combatting the dreaded menopausal spread. I had resigned myself to having the middle aged bulge and saying goodbye to any hope of a body. Now, I look better than in high school! In fact, I now purchase clothes in size small or 2/0 sizes. I just feel wonderful all aroind. I use the Bosu to do intervals and pilates style exercises I found on Youtube. I also had a trainer help design a few intervals as well. It was for me very easy to pump with the included hand pump, and I did not have any issues there. The rubber is solid and thick, and the bottom holds well to my hardwood floor. I do my exercises twice a day in front of the television, and it really has added some variety to my exercise routine. Directions were relatively easy to follow regarding inflating. Mine came with workbooks on rehab exercises as well. I look forward to using it for quite some time. I am going to purchase some of the accessories that come with it to help with arm shaping. I also like how portable and does not take a whole lot of space, like my stair stepper. I have used this in the gym for about two months before purchasing the same item to use at home. I love the Bosu, and wanted to make sure I could do my routines even if I did not go to the gym. Admittedly, it takes time to get used to running on the ball, as it requires balance. But, then it really helps with stability and strength. Also, it can be used for arms, core, and leg exercises. Very versatile. Best investment I made to help keep my aging bones and body in as best shape as can be.

HAPPY - Working on my core for strength and balance!
My therapist recommended that I get my ball to sit on daily to gently and gradually strengthen my core and back muscles. In my research for a new ball, I stumbled across the Bosu. It turns out that this is a great item to add to my exercise tools. I have been struggling with not injuring myself when I try to exercise. I always injure myself doing the simplest of stretches or exercise moves. Then I have to stop my exercise plan to recover. I really want to build strength and flexibility as I am getting older. I have had a few health issues and I am limited on what I am able to do. I am so glad I found the Bosu. I am using the Bosu to strengthen my core and increase my stability and balance by standing on it and keeping myself from falling off the ball. It is challenging but not too hard and I do not feel that I have hurt myself or “over done” myself afterwards. I can feel it in my legs and my stomach as I maintain my position on the ball. Now, I don’t think I will ever be able to use the Bosu for the hard core exercise I see people do in the videos because of my physical limitations, but I see great potential in building muscle and strength.

The provided Air pump would not inflate the BOSU to the specified hight
This is an excellent product and well made. Unfortunately the provided pump used to inflate the BOSU would not hold the pressure needed to inflate it to the 8.5” required fight. There was too much air leakage around the piston shaft. I got a better pump and it worked fine.

100% Enourage Anyone to Buy a BOSU
I've been putting off investing in a BOSU ball for years! The times I've been in the best, slimmest shape of my life has involved training extensively with a BOSU ball. Call me high maintenance, but after training with a genuine BOSU in the gym for years, I couldn't bring myself to buy an off brand. I also was nervous about how much of a difference the home version of the ball was from the pro version, so I decided to splurge and just get the Pro so I knew I would be 100% happy with this investment. The Pro version is exactly what I used in my gyms. It is sturdy, quality, and easy to maintain. Mine came with the BOSU, a cheap air pump (does the job just fine), a DVD, instruction booklet and an exercise guide that is actually pretty extensive (not just exercises, but educational material as well). I highly suggest checking YouTube for some fresh BOSU ball workouts as well. There are a lot of options to help inspire you on how to best maximize your BOSU for the best results. My husband is driven crazy by me always repeating "why did I wait so long to do this!?!" It is such a great way to take a basic exercise and challenge your entire body simply by doing it standing on the BOSU. BONUS: The husband has back issues that make it very, very difficult for him to do any sort of working out (even low impact and body weight exercises). It is a catch 22 because in order to make it better without surgery, he needs to gain core strength. The BOSU has been a great tool for him. He is able to do upper body exercises on the BOSU while strengthening his core. The results have been strengthening without the pain that usually follows any type of exercise.
