Relay contacts are rated at 10A NOT 13A!!
These have generally been "ok" but I have had about 5 fail now. Some have failed by failing to connect to WiFi and simply will not reset.A couple of them have failed to switch, where the relay contacts stick on. You think you're reportedly turning things off but not so!With the two recent failures, one WiFi connection and the other a sticking relay, I figured I'd just take the relay from the one board and make one working one out of two. Here's where I met a big concern. These are described as "max current 13A, 2990 Watts", however that might have been the case with the original units which have a relay rated at 15A @ 240V. As you can see in the pictures, that was the case for the 2018 version but since then, it appears that they are now using a relay with max contact rating of 10A. Reality, max power of 2400W.This is not good and will lead to premature failure of relay contacts.I'm not even switching anything close to half this as a peak load and they're failing.

Great product at a great price
I have owned smart switches from 4 different companies now. I love these, I now own 12 of them and I am selling the ones from other brands. These have had a decent WIFI signal in places that other smart plugs just wouldn't be detected. The hardware feels very well made. The installation process is easy. The app is easy to use with clear instructions. The power monitoring on these have been more accurate than some of the rival products also. I have used a multimeter and a 100w incandescent lamp to see how good the voltage and current monitoring are on these. It was better than the unknown brands and as good as TP-link while being quite a lot cheaper.I use Home Assistant for my home automation, so I cannot comment on Alexa or Google integration. But use with Home Assistant has been absolutely flawless. I will be keeping an eye out for more Meross smart products in the future

Simple setup, works first time, but a bit too much bulk
These were easier than the 'cheaper' brands/unbranded counterparts you will doubtless be comparing value-for-money for on Amazon if you are reading this (!).Integration with Alexa was a breeze, and didn't require a magnifying glass to get started. The feel of these plugs and apparent build quality is higher than the slightly cheaper alternatives. On the negative side, these are bulkier than the 'cheaper' alternatives and as a result, whilst they work well on say the source end of 4-gang extension, should you want to use in the individual sockets of that 4-gang, you may well experience an issue getting 2 side by side and/or getting even a vanilla plug in along side let alone any of the larger plugs found on todays devices - Ring, your router, etc. If you have individually switched sockets on your 4-gang you might be ok - I had one which was and one which was not), but any 'side-by-side' 4-gang will see you getting at most 2 of these in, and losing access to the other 2.

It is simple to,operate
This product is very reasonably priced. Nicely designed and simple to operate. It is good not to have a hub or bridge to hook it to but it goes straight into your Network. It is important that if your WiFi network uses the 5GHz frequency to go into your router settings and switch that off for a few minutes so you only use the 2.4Ghz frequency. The instructions to configure are very clear in the app. This was a pack of three such smart plugs. I found I did not need to switch off the 5GHz frequency when adding the other two. The system recognised what was needed. All easy.In operation there is a good solid click when remotely switching on and off. They are rated at 13amps but personally I would be wary of running 3 kWs through them unless I was in the room. I have used one for my 2.4kW electric radiator in my conservatory and no problems but I am hesitant at leaving it on if I go out. With such a radiator the plug gets a little warm but no sign of overheating. I expected it to get warm. After all, a basic PSU for an iPhone does that.I have tried several makes of smart plugs in past years. This is one of the best. Some I have found that they “blow” if too much current is suddenly pulled through them when a device is switched on such as the choke of a fluorescent light or a highly rated power supply. By “blow” it seems the relay contacts in the plug weld together. I have had no such issues with the Meross one although I no longer have any fluorescent lights to try!I also bought a Meross power strip which is worth having . Again I think preferably for lower amperage devices such as PSUs for phones and tablets etc. Each of the three sockets can be individually controlled and it has a few USB sockets as well.Negatives? Two. One is I am not sure of the accuracy of the power consumption reading the smart plug gives. It may need to be calibrated better. For example, with my 2.4kW radiator it read on one over 3kW was being used and after a factory reset of the smart plug it was reading 2.8kW or 2.9kW. To be fair to Meross they are looking into this. The other negative is the smart plug is not Apple HomeKit compatible. Yet the power strip is. I suspect Meross will release an updated version in due course.A great product if you want a simple remote on off control without the sometimes pain of having to configure and pair through a bridge. If it would appear in HomeKit then even better.I better say that I am not an employee of Meross, just a customer, they have not paid me to write this review nor sent me the product free to review! I write simply because they asked if I would give a review.

Paid for itself!
I bought this more out of curiousity more than anything else, but in doing so they have paid for themselves when I noticed what was using a lot of our power at home!I have bought Meross plugs before and use them around the house to control lights/heaters, but the ones with energy monitoring were on offer so I bought a set and attached it to some key plugs around the house to see how much they use and would shocked to see the idle usage of some appliances, so I have now set up scheduled to stop the idle power and would expect that within a year these plugs will easily pay for themselves in saved electriciy.
