You can have it set to vibrate and it will vibrate like crazy once it detects metal.This product did allow us to deny entry to an individual who thought he could sneak in a knife in his underwear. I find that these metal detectors does exactly what I need them to do, and the price very unbelievable, very satisfied.

Using this is just like the wands or metal detectors used in Airports to prevent any unauthorized items not supposed to be present. These wands work as efficiently and are quite durable and stay accurate.

This machine seems to work well for large metallic objects. For its intended use of detecting guns/knives it would probably be quite good and at a reasonable price. However, I bought it hoping to find nails and metal bits in wood. It finds nails well, but couldn't detect a staple on the surface of the board, so do not buy it for this purpose.I gave it 4 stars because I feel it could be more sensitive and the sensitivity knob seems to do nothing.

This was returned. Husband needed it for a work project and was looking forward to a low cost option with adjustable sensitivity. The adjustment is buried in a hole on the side, and requires a tiny screwdriver to turn the adjustment. We have a set of such screwdrivers, but could never get it seated in the slot--no matter how small the head.

This metal detector works well. I bought it to determine if there were steel shanks in my shoes so I can get through security at the airport, etc. It does the job!
