Let me first say that I never expected to read a book like this. I was brought up to be generally indifferent to spiritual matters. But I found this book to be a very thoughtful treatise on Brigid’s ongoing influence in our modern world. And, more than that, it’s a workbook and guide for people setting their feet upon the path for the first time (like me). Compellingly written in a warm and accessible manner, Lunaea Weatherstone breaks down ancient, esoteric concepts in an approachable way. She relies on several other contributors throughout the book to recall their own personal journeys and their relationships with Brigid (in all her forms). She winningly posits the notion that Brigid never actually disappeared from our culture. She is eternal. An ever-present “soul friend” who strongly encourages excellence and authenticity from her devotees. Favorite quote: “What is Brigid working on at her forge? You.” Highly recommended.

This is a beautiful and inspiring book by a devoted priestess of Brigid. The book covers what history is available about Brigid, both as goddess and saint, then moves into sections detailing how to welcome and honor Brigid in your life through the home, through devotion, and through creativity, writing, and healing. It is full of ideas of ways to honor Brigid as a regular part of each day, to live in a mindful, sacred, and devoted way through all the ordinary messiness of our lives. My favorite parts of the book are the many beautiful prayers and invocations to Brigid sprinkled throughout--so many to choose from that you could use with the prayer beads that she also provides instructions for you to make.I would recommend this book even for people who are not devotees of Brigid, simply because there are so many ideas for living a life of devotion that could inspire you in your relationships with other goddesses. However, it would be hard to read this book and not at least want to get to know Brigid a little!

For anyone who wants to learn more about the goddess Brigid, I would highly recommend this book.I wanted to learn more about Brigid but I didn't know where to start. I saw this book and was drawn by the cover. I'm glad I chose this book as my first book in my studies of the Goddess Brigid. I enjoyed every aspect of this book. It was exactly what I was looking for.Thank you Lunaea, and all the contributors, for this wonderful book.

A beautiful guide for anyone who feels drawn to invite Brigid into their life. Devotional prayer, history and lore, craft ideas, etc. I used the author's idea of lighting the flame for 19 days to initiate a relationship with the goddess. I find myself going back to this book over and over again; the recipes are quite yummy as well :)I'm sure I'm not the only one who would love a second book with more craft ideas, incense, recipes, journal questions, etc.

In this book the author demonstrates once again that one can offer a wealth of collected wisdom without being weighty or dry. Tending Brigid's Flame is both deeply tender and light-hearted; a perfect read for someone intent on creating their own practice or just learning more about this multi-faceted Saint and Goddess. While many authors tend to be overly prescriptive for my taste, Lunaea offers gentle guidance through detailed rituals in a way that encourages each practitioner to make the ritual her (or his) own. I am reminded of the "cool auntie" I never had; the one who does things in her own magical way and invites you to try a bit of this or that as it calls to you, with words of warning only as needed, and always encouragement to savor the experience of everyday magical living. Much like Brigid herself, the book is both a refreshing drink of clear, cool water to soothe the soul and an energizing, strength-building forge at which to hone one's magical intentions. I just finished reading this ... I loved this book! I very recently came into the knowledge of Brigid's presence within my life. This book has been a great guide for me as I start on my path with her, though I know she had been beside me for much longer than I was aware of her presence. This is a great book for anyone wanting to deepen their walk with her or just get to know her better. Lunaea writes in a style that is very easy and enjoyable to read. She covers Brigid in her many forms, from goddess to saint, and gives many ways to connect with Brigid in a daily basis. This book has been an incredible one for me at this point in my life. I plan to read it again soon so I can start to strengthen my connection with Brigid even more. I highly recommend this book for anyone wanting to strengthen their own connection to this incredible goddess!

This is a fantastic, well-written, and perfectly edited book! I am very grateful for that! However, as a man, I felt excluded on almost every page. I fully appreciate the patriarchal history of most world religion. But Brighid has called me and I am still searching for a volume in which she can speak to me.

This is a treasure of a book. Full of historical info, myths and legends, practical devotions and ways to incorporate Brigid into all aspects of your life. More than a book, this is a work of faith.
