Size:240 Sq Ft | Style:HEPA Filter Most of today's new homes are practically air tight saving energy. Indoor pollutants are not that's the reason why indoor air is 5 times more polluted than outdoor air according to EPA . Exposure to these pollutants can lead to numerous immediate and long-term health problems like asthma, allergies or even cancer. Thanks its exclusive technology and 4 stages filtration, the NEW Rowenta PU6020 Intense Pure Air is the only Air Purifier on the market that filters 99.99% of indoor pollution and permanently destroys Formaldehyde. Once the filter is saturated of Formaldehyde the granules change color; the more formaldehyde has been destroyed, the browner is the granule. The Intense Pure Air also features smart pollution sensors which detect particles and chemical pollutants in the air (acetone, formaldehyde, benzene, etc.).Depending on the level detected, the air quality indicator changes color and the filtration speed is automatically adjusted to ensure optimal air quality. The Intense Pure Air is extremely quiet and is engineered for night-long purification. Its built-in sleep timer and delayed start can be set for up to 8 hours. This purifier is certified AHAM and earned the ENERGY STAR by respecting strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the US EPA. Not good in removing formaldehyde and VOCs
Pros: The unit is very well built and quite. It removes PM2.5 and PM10 very well.Cons: The product info says that the unit has the ability to remove or reduce formaldehyde (HCHO) and VOCs (volatile organic compounds). This is the main reason I bought this unit because we just have major home repairs done. Because painting produces high concentrations of HCHO and VOCs, I also bought IGERESS air quality meter to measure the level of HCHO and TVOC in my house. To my surprise that the reading values of HCHO and TVOC (total VOCs) from the air outlet (for about an hour) of the unit are worse than the ambient room value. I've attached 3 images to show the test results. The first image shows the normal reading from my backyard, the second is the ambient room value and the last one is from the air outlet of the unit.

Why no information on Phosphoric Acid packet included in box???????
Have unit plugged in, attempting to purify the horrible air we are now experiencing -- imagine what it feels like to hear endlessly, "Portland, OR now has the worst air quality on the planet!!!" -- and found inside the delivered box a small mesh envelope, carefully labelled "Phosphoric Acid DANGER" -- with a multi-page, loose-leafed packet of information attached, printed in many languages, but no information about what it is, is supposed to do or be for, or anything else useful to an alarmed citizen in dangerous times. Company does not answer the telephone helpline, online site is useless for this, and so on. NOT HAPPY. Not Happy at all. Some piece of useful information about this small inclusion would have eliminated my concerns................................................................

Great Purifier for household after wildfires!
I had been searching for a purifier due to the ash from the California wildfires. I found out that a friend had the same Rowenta purifier and was told that it works perfectly in trapping a significant amount of dust and debris. So far, after 3 months I have no regret in purchasing the 240 Sq Ft model for the living room; it has trapped a lot more that I had expected and even more when switching to the bedroom. This helped a lot with allergies and also helped catch all the small ash that was lingering from the fires. I have removed and cleaned the mesh filter with a Hepa vacuum to make sure no dust floats around.

Important maintenace to preform for good results.
I have only had it about 3-4 wks and so far it seems to help "my situation." Make sure you read the booklet thoroughly and then read it again. Lots of information but the format could have been better detailed. You have to pay attention to cleaning the front - permanent filter. Very important or the other filters will contaminate and get dirty very quickly. So far my schedule to clean it every 2 wks and also the side sensor. It only take about 20 minutes total but in the long run I think the effort will be worth the benefit. Wish you the best. Also if I would have had it long I may have given it a 5 star BUT time will tell.

my son stopped coughing the first night we used this product
My best friend recommended this after doing extensive research to keep the air clean in her Bell Canyon home after the fires burned houses on three sides of hers (to the ground). I ordered one, set it up, and that night, for the first time in months, my 5 year old did not cough ONCE all night!!!! Great product: easy to clean and change filters. When you turn it up high it's pretty loud, but when you're ready to sleep you can turn it down, and it's very quiet.

I live near a fire zone, Rowenta comes through
I live near a fire zone. Even indoors with windows and doors closed we can have poor air quality. I have a PM2.5 meter on my desk so I can know how poor the air quality is. Rowenta is relatively quiet, but it works harder as the air quality worsens, which is a nice feature, but as it works harder, it will make a bit more noise, ear plugs are an easy solution. It's easy to set up-- just pull it out of the box, pull off the front cover, put in the filters and put the cover back on. There's an indicator light which will tell you when the filter needs replacement, and those are easy to get. I've had one Rowenta for a few years now, and it hasn't needed a replacement filter yet. The air that comes out of the vent is nice and cool which is another nice benefit. Importantly, it keeps the PM2.5 level where I'm working low. It's not so heavy that you can't move it, or as I have done in the past, put it one a little movable base made for plants, and wheeled it to the room I'll be in. Each home or office will be different in terms of how much outside air gets in, but in my home, even with PM2.5 at 125 outside, my living room never went over PM12. So this has to do with Rowenta, but also the seals on windows, the gaps under the door, air coming in from a fire place, etc.

Does an excellent job cleaning the air in my home
Does an excellent job cleaning the air in my home. I love the fact that it senses changes in the air quality and adjusts the fan speed accordingly. I've been using this for about 5 months now and have been please with the results. Pollen season is in full swing here in South Carolina now and I can tell that this air cleaner has made a big difference in the air and the dust levels in the house.

Did not like it
I bought one of these for myself and one for my son's room as well. Both my son and I got sick with sore throats and sinus infections after we started using them. Our symptoms did not improve until we stopped using them. This product seemed to be spewing bacteria at us rather than clean air. Now we have two giant paperweights.
