Wuxia genre has been explored in RPG industry in the past. Qin: The Warring States (Cubicle 7, 2005) was translated from the original french, a line well presented, but sadly unfinished due to the publisher dropping the english series. Tianxia: Blood, Silk & Jade (Vigilance Press, 2014), based on Fate Core, has a ton of resources and interesting supplements, my only gripe is the light tone and commercial Avatar-style artwork (a deal breaker in RPG to me). Art of Wuxia (DwD Studios, 2020) is a solid game, based in a percentile system, it can be easily plug into other d00lite games, available in PDF and print-on-demand formats.So, what's the point with Righteous Blood, Ruthless Blades. It's very purist, and respectful with its wuxia sources, but at the same time it takes licenses over the historical field to create, above all, a gaming experience: playable, interesting, and engaging. The gritty and dramatic tone is a clear signal that the publisher knows its audience. The staff behind is some kind of dream team: a connoisseur chinese-english translator, very educated in the matters presented, plus, an indie RPG designer maturing ideas tested successfully in the past in his The Wandering Heroes of Ogre Gate (2016). A book with amazing values in the art and graphic design department as well.

If you grew up watching KungFu Cinema and you play tabletop roleplaying games then do yourself a favor and buy this game.Narrative d10 dice pool system with just enough tactical crunch to satisfy. Combat is deadly but finding the perfect martial abilities is very satisfying.I have hundreds of RPGs and this genre is definitely a refreshing change of pace from the normal Fantasy or Sci-fi settings.

This is a work of art as a set of rules to play in the amazing world of Wuxia. Think of the martial art films like Crouching Tiger - Hidden Dragon and the great Chinese movies and TV series set in the mythical world that we all have come to know and love. Now you can play your own adventures in the world of martial cults, fiendish plots and never knowing who is really a friend or foe. So pick up your sword and find that missing manual of sword arts! Buy this book!

Osprey did well by tagging both prominent author-experts on the genre. Their collective knowledge shows in style of wuxia, and gives players and GM plenty of options. Game play is a small learning curve, using d10s. Well worth the investment and immersion of martial arts in Chinese low-fantasy settings, with one adventure in book (and a follow-up online for free!).

I knew exactly what I was getting on the pages due to Deathblade being involved, one of the best Chinese translators and writers around. But I didn't think the book itself would be so nice. The pages are high quality color and the binding is top notch as well. This isn't your average RPG source book at all.

Highly recommended. This is an amazing role playing game that faithfully recreates the experience of wuxia drama. Very high production values combined with flexible system make for a superior game.

While I did not receive the book - lost in transit between Canada and UK, the seller was very kind and issued a refund. I would certainly order from them again. Despite still looking for this book, I am very satisfied with Books etc.

I really like this game.I had never heard anything about it until I came across it in a list of new releases from Osprey.I love the whole WuXia genre (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon - Shadowless Sword, House of Flying Daggers, Hero etc), so I made sure to get it when it came out.The system is simple enough to learn quickly, while giving enough "crunch" that characters have plenty of variety.Combat is suitably lethal and there is every chance that PCs will be killed or maimed if they tackle dangerous opponents.There is plenty of background information included, allowing you to tailor the game world to meet your own preferences.Plus, the author Brendan Davis supports the game from his VAST blog (search for "The Bedrock Blog").If there is a downside (and it is only a small one) it is that there is very little WuXia literature available in English. The authors say that they were inspired by the works of Gu Long, but good luck trying to find them.

Sono innamorato di questo gioco che pur avendo qualche indecisione su alcune meccaniche, riesce a portarci nel mondo dei racconti e ( anche di più! ) dei film wuxia di genere. Tratteggiando un setting tra storia e folclore, volutamente sospeso per permettere a GM e PG di sviluppare il loro personale "jianghu", il manuale fornisce tutto ciò che serve inclusa un avventura introduttiva; in più sul sito della Osprey è possibile scaricarne una seconda, insieme ad altre cose utili.

If youre looking to run a Wuxia RPG, or just simply read up on the genre, this book is a much have! RBRB truly captures the spirit of Gu Long wuxia novels and many of the martial arts described will leave a smile on the faces of fans familiar with his work. I finished running a campaign in this setting from 1 to 10 and my players had a blast from start to end, calling it one of the best RPGs they have ever played. Yes I made my own homebrew changes to it, but the core system remained firmly RBRB.Wuxia RPGs are relatively rare compared to the much larger amount of typical Western fantasy or sci fi products out there. Also, most of them are only available as PDFs or PODs, if you want a hardcopy this is one of the rare few available on Amazon.If youre a fan of wuxia and RPGs do yourself a favor and grab this now!
