ProTectaEVO Ambush Bait Stations (1 Case of 6 Stations)

Bait stations appear well made and durable. They are a good size station with an entry hole on both sides so that the rodents can enter/exit on either side. The entry hole is large enough for bigger rodents such as rats.I have fruit trees in my back yard and unfortunately the rodents love the fruit as much as I do. Hopefully these will help reduce the population and keep them under control. Left unchecked rodents multiply rapidly.

I spotted what I can only guess is a field mouse. Very small creature, only a few inches in length in my office.Having dealt with an infestation in a previous house, I knew this had to be acted on quickly and decisively. If you see one, they quickly multiply. The problem (and potential help) is that I have 4 cats living with me. I can't lay traps or poison for fear that one of these dorks would set it off or eat it.I ordered a set of 6 of these traps along with bait blocks (the peanut butter kind and the one designed to kill resistant types...probably didn't need it). So we are on about week 2 of placing these at key points throughout the house. I just got through checking each of the traps. Only one appears to have had activity. The upstairs kitchen next to the fridge. So now I know where to look for the body.These were super easy to setup, I have zero fear my cats have had any exposure, and it appears to have been effective. I'll know for sure when I find a dead mouse. I just know I haven't seen him since that first sighting and he appears to have stopped in for some bad eats.

This is the type of bait enclosure that the local Vector control uses. The are sturdy and made well. They can also be used with a Bell labs T-rex trap instead of bait. No more scurrying of little feet in the attic. And only the rodents can get to the bait. Here in California we have to use a bait the won't kill an animal that eats a poisoned rodent. It is a good product, no dead critters lying around and it is easy to maintain these traps.

I bought this six-pack of bait stations for a small farm with sheds, a barn, and the crawlspace under my house in 2019. They are still going strong in 2023. Their hinges and latching mechanism have held-up through semi-annual refills of poison with no breakage. I have only two minor concerns. First, since the pack only includes one key, don't lose it. Second, the vertical rods that are essential to hold the bait can fall out. Be sure to push the rods down into their holes before you invert the tray to dump-out any debris, otherwise you may dump a rod or two and be able to hold less bait securely when refilling. Since these concerns are minor, this bulk-pack of USA-made bait stations definitely deserve at least a 4-star rating; maybe even 5.

Unlike some folks, I didn't find these bait stations hard to open with the provided key. The openings are large enough to accommodate rodents but too small for pets, squirrels etc. Comes with a single key for the six pack of bait stations, and plenty of rods for attaching bait (I used Tomcat blocks).

I’ve now bought a dozen of these. Very sturdy and can accommodate rats if needed but will also work with mice. I recommend buying professional grade poison for these to get the biggest bang for your buck. They seem like they will last forever.

I bought these specifically for rats. They're pretty straightforward: Bait stations holds the poison. Rats come eat, then die. These boxes are sturdy, they won't break open easily; but they are easy to inadvertently spill loose bait out of, if you tip them too far one way or the other. Also, rats are smart. I think they learn that "going into the black box is bad because that's where mommy went, and then she ate the food and then she died." So - without switching up bait, you might find after some time that these wonderful boxes do a wonderful job of protecting bait that ends up going untouched, anyway.For people who complain about having only 1 key: I've solved that problem by simply not losing the 1 key.... Not a good long-term strategy, but then again, I was never a good strategizer... Yes, I know that's not a word.. Wait, what were we talking about?I give these bait stations 3 stars because even though they serve their purpose well enough, I think the rats learn that the black boxes are bad. Even with these death chambers in your arsenal, you might still need to switch up bait stations periodically. So - even though I still use these stations, lately, I've also taken to putting bait into recycled takeout containers. You can cut out an "entrance" in takeout container (which likely already smells like food the rats might want to eat), and put some munchies de la muerte inside.You'll also need to switch up the bait you use - maybe for a week or so, lace some chocolate powder with plaster of paris, or lace some oatmeal with bromethalin bait (of course, whatever you do, wear gloves and prepare the bait away from places you or your kids/pets touch or eat).I'm off topic now.. Anyway, the bait stations are fine. You probably won't regret buying them if you need them for rodent control; but you probably won't fall in love with them, either. I mean, they're bait stations...

The bait stations are designed for larger rodents. Therefore the openings tend to be large. Over the counter, baits for such bait stations typically have holes through the center of the bait, which is likely to come in the form of either a bar or a cube. These bait stations use a pin design to take advantage of those holes and ensure that they can’t fall out of the bait station. Once a rodent has been at the baits, they tend to make crumbs, so you should still be careful. That is, the crumbs will still be able to fall out of the bait station, although not in such quantities that it’s likely to be seriously harmful.

Good sturdy product. Good communication from supplier to answer my questions.
