The Great Satan (Eblis)

had been with me for ages until i found someone even more appreciative
I am by no mean a Sufi expert, nor do I consider myself any more of one for having read this, but I must say it presents a humble yet erudite compilation of thinking inside conceptions of Eblis, ideas that I have found cropping up in my regular thought. Easy read, cheap book, full of different scholarly perspectives, something I would always like to keep a part of my library

A fascinating, lyric text.
Eblis: The Great Satan is first and foremost, one of the easiest, most flowing religious texts I have ever read. It stands next to the Tao Te'Ching in that regard. And like the Tao Te'Ching, it derives most of its power from poetry. However, there's not just poetry here. This book is a collection from different Sufi sources and includes anecdotes, short stories, and various ways of simply presenting thoughts. I found that the way the philosophers talked about sitting down and having a chat with Eblis himself to be both audacious and bold.Eblis is NOT the Satan of traditional Christian theology. This is a portrait of a much more complex religious figure: one that embodies tragedy, imagination, infidelity, and so much more."No papa, he did not ask me to go - I want to go." This line from fiddler on the roof just happened to play as I was writing this review, and it struck me how perfectly appropriate the song was to the Eblis story. But, I prattle on. Go now, and discover this gem on your own. Truly authoritative, breathtaking scholarship.
