Dyson or Nothing!
My dad bought a DC14 ten years ago, and that was light years ahead of the old Kenmores that we used as a family. The DC14 in and of itself is a fantastic vacuum cleaner, and because of that, I decided I would get a Dyson as my first vacuum. Being a college kid who lives in the dorms, I don't need anything fancy, big, or expensive. I almost immediately was drawn to the DC24 due to its price. I went ahead and purchased a used DC24 Animal off Amazon, and I have had this little guy for about 3 months. When I originally received the vacuum I was somewhat concerned due to its small size, and the power rating of 100 air watts. I can say now my concerns were pointless. If someone had shown me the dust bin and I hadn't known any better, I would have thought my room had never been vacuumed before! The amount of dust this thing picks up is simply amazing. It never fails to impress me with how much I pull out of the carpet, even when it looks clean to the naked eye! I love the Ball technology. I was very skeptical at first, but after using it I am sold. This vacuum turns on a dime! It fits well under most cabinet overhangs as well, and hugs edges. The wand is a breeze to use, and greatly aids in reaching those nooks, crannies, and other hard-to-reach areas. Many of the negative reviews I read said the vacuum was made out of cheap plastic, suction was poor, and the cord was too short. They must have WWE style matches with theirs because I can find no fault with the construction. The plastic is very sturdy, holds up exceptionally to daily use, and doesn't flinch from a few bumps and unexpected whacks. I find the construction to be incredibly sturdy for what it is. As I said before, the suction is amazing...and constant, just like they advertise. The bin can be mostly full with regular debris, or even hair for that matter, and it keeps on cleaning. If this little DC24 vacuums like it does, I would think the full size Dysons would threaten to suck up the carpets! As for the cord, it is the perfect size for small rooms, like mine (I believe it is a 12 foot by 14 foot). The cord is perfect for smaller rooms and areas, which I believe the DC24 was designed for in the first place. If you try to vacuum a large family room with a DC24, yes, the cord will be too short. However, that is an unfair criticism of the vacuum. To me, complaining of a short cord on a compact vacuum like the DC24 is like taking a Toyota Corolla to the Daytona 500 and complaining that it was too slow. The cord works perfectly for what it was designed for: small rooms. The filters work excellently. They trap what appears to be everything and anything present in the air except the air itself. Rinsing them is foolproof-there are direction stickers on the vacuum itself. Overall, I would give this DC24 a solid 5 out of 5 stars. It is a perfect little vacuum cleaner for those smaller spaces. And if you are feeling adventurous, go grab an extension cord and just empty the bin more often. It can, with some help, conquer the big areas too. I can't highly recommend this enough!

Compact. light, very effective and easy to use
I'm an "if all else fails read instructions" kind of person and was able to find where all the pieces fit on this vacuum when it shipped. There were a few small parts to put together. Not many, but everything seemed to fit where it belonged. I actually purchased a refurbished Dyson prior to this one, but ended up returning it because it was quite large, expensive for a refurbished vacuum (even though I knew Dyson would cost a pretty penny), and it wasn't as good a deal as I originally thought it was when I purchased it. Then I saw this deal on Amazon (I love how Amazon price matches almost everything) and had to grab it. Not much more in cost compared to the refurbished one, but I'm glad I got the full 5 year warranty for the new product as opposed to the 6 month warranty for refurbished Dysons. My first impression was, "wow this thing is tiny!" I loved it immediately! The ball was pretty cool too! The guy at the store mentioned he didn't prefer the ball because when you back up it kind of goes where it wants, but I did not find this to happen to me. Then again I only used it once so far, but I did do some backing up and did not find any difficulty. Anyway, it does its sucking up of dirt and hair very well and emptying the dust was not too hard to figure out. I guess I'll have to read the manual on this, but the hair gets wrapped around the front roller of the vacuum. There's a sticker that indicates how you remove the hair, but I have yet to figure that out. I'm sure there's a way to do it, but it's time to read up on the manual. All in all, this is a great little vacuum that does a great job at sucking (sucking up dirt that is, hehe)

Great Size, low performance
I've been wanting a Dyson for a long time. Since I live in an apt. I thought the small size would be good. It is, as a supplemental vacuum. I love the way it vacuums floors, but not the carpeting or the rugs. There are so many little pieces (threads, cat fur, etc.) that it just doesn't pick up. It does not perform the way I would want it to. I will eventually purchase the Dyson pet one, and then I'm certain I will be 100% satisfied. Small canister--which isn't that big of a deal because it's easy to empty. It also can't pick up large pieces of paper, etc. because then it clogs easily due to the smallness of the hoses. The noise level is fantastic. My food processor makes more noise. The lightness of the vacuum is also wonderful. So I'm not dissatisfied with the purchase, but for the price I really did expect a better performance.

Great lightweight vacuum small for easy storage
I think it was a bit pricey for 2nd hand, although it was exactly what I was looking for. Have had 2 of these previously and loved both of those, both donated to other family members and both still work, decided I wanted to have one again as my other vacuum cleaners are either bulky to use or run out of battery power too quick. As can’t buy these new any more, I thought this seller would be a good alternative. It arrived packaged well and very promptly. It was very clean which made it look new, if it wasn’t for a few scuffs here and there I wouldn’t have known it was reconditioned/second hand. I am pleased to have another one back in my house! They are light, move well and are great for a quick whizz round the house. The cord is a little on the short side but I just use an extension with it and can get right round my house without unplugging. My only sticking point was that I have a thick lounge carpet and the brush keeps sticking in the carpet, a bit disappointed with that, it’s a new carpet so I hadn’t had that problem before. So, if you don’t have any thick carpets, this is a great vacuum to own. Oh and as the handle folds away it’s great to store too, especially if you don’t have much room. It has my recommendation.
