Q: Why is water not flowing to the trough when I fill up the bucket?

If it's new. Then make sure you pull the red plug out from the inside of bucket and let it float. The red plug is so it wont let water out until you get it to were you want it in the pen.

Q: Do you have to fill it up with a hose? Or would a re-used milk jug (or similar) work just as well?

its can get quite heavy when you fill it up. So I'll leave it in a stationary area and fill it up with a quart hug/container meant for juice. I use sink water and not hose water due to the chemicals. I don't see why you couldn't use a milk jug as long as it's cleaned out really well. Of course I always make sure it's clean before I add fresh water.

Q: Are replacement floats available?

Sorry, I don't know the answer. Ours was leaking water inside, but we caulked it and it stopped the problem. It would be nice if they just made it one piece

Q: Do the chickens be able to stand on top of this bucket? Do chickens be able to stand on top of the lid?

The lid is slippery and slightly sloped, but the chickens can jump on it, with difficulty - mine don’t though. You can also hang it, which would make their jumping up almost impossible. This is the best waterer I’ve used so far!
