In this book, Olivie writes a number of fairytales, as eerie as they are enchanting; with compelling plot-lines following delightful characters who live the strangest lives - and say the darnedest things. There’s a lot of love and magic and absurdity which coupled with Olivie’s beautiful narration makes this book a very very enjoyable read.

A really enjoyable read from a very enjoyable person!! Olivie has a way with words, and this beautifully showcases that skill.

Another delightful collection from Olivie Blake! As ever, Blake's writing shines with humor, originality, and unforgettable characters. These are fantastical tales, but unlike many of the traditional fairy tales, magic and the supernatural are never used as a stand-in for genuine character development. Instead, the fantasy elements deftly elevate the stakes and glamour of the underlying human drama. Blake has a rare talent for seeing the vicious and the virtuous in each of her characters and writes both sides with equal tenderness and wit. I never know where I'm about to go when I start reading her work, but I know it will be somewhere both familiar and unexpected, always thrilling, occasionally dangerous, profoundly moving, and a hell of a lot of fun. Blake is a force to be reckoned with, and I will gladly follow her anywhere.

This is a collection of five stories, and all of them are brilliant and engaging. The structure and tone differ between them, but each told a compelling story about characters I immediately loved. After each one finished, I had to put the book down and just be alone with my feelings for a bit. They provoked a lot of introspection, as I considered my wishes and vices, and I was in turns delighted and horrified by the love - of all different types - depicted in these stories. They're beautiful, and I highly recommend reading this book.

This collection of fairytales were just so lovely. Olivie Blake truly has an amazing skill at story telling. I never wanted the stories to end. I loved The Twelve Huntsmen!! As well as A Sucker for Pain. I have read this book twice already and still can’t get over how great it is ♥️

Everything written by Olivie Blake is a home run; I sound like I'm gushing, but honestly, everything really is. Blake is a marvelous author who writes engaging and exciting stories with amazing characters that grip you, and not only does her wit shine through in everything she writes, but her writing is pure poetry that has me reading and rereading and reading again.
