Worked a treat
Well I was expecting a load of 3d printed rubbish but this is a good replacement of the original.Easy way to fit these is if both wires have snapped which mine did. So spring was slack.Punch out the pins on the conesFit the new cones and remember to have both new so cables are facing down.Use the old pins, the new ones are far too big.Thread cable down the door edging.Open the door and wedge a brick in it so it's tilted and up only about a foot. Now with a screwdriver wiggle the wire loop over the roller. Not that you've done both sides which if done right should take about 10mins get a hop up, have a coffee and get a 4mm Allen key and a 22mm spanner and a thick punch (or any metal bar that fits in the holes to hold tension).Go to the left of the spring and put the spanner on and loosen the Allen grub screws. Wind the spring -up- then put in the bar to hold the tension while you remove the spanner and get a lower fixing with it. Wind up again and repeat this about 40 times. Tighten the grub screws. Check the cables haven't come out the side door runners, and have a go opening. I had to do this about 3 times, I didn't realise how much tension you had to wind in that spring, I was nackered and I'm a tree surgeon, I had wobbly arms by the end.My door now opens with one finger, and now I've been asked to fix everybody's door in my cul de sac.Cardale doors are badly finished but if I can get another 10 years out of it with this I'll be happy.

Good repair kit
Comes with drifts to help remove existing pins.TIP: Use WD40 on existing pins, soak well and leave for circa 12 hours. This will soften any rust on the pins and make it a lot easier to remove the pins. Before you begin look on YouTube. Two people will make the task mush easier.I found one side was a lot easier than the other. The pins in the kit were slightly larger diameter than the existing ones. This made it hard work putting them in. Use the drift (metal bar) with a hammer to knock the pins in.I used a small round file to open up the hole in the garage door shaft so that the pin went in easier. Kit of small files available from Screwfix circa £10.Patience is a virtue when doing this job.
