Advanced Protective Products Rust Destroyer Oil Base Red Primer Spray, 13-Ounce Aerosol

I am a house painter that leaves by the ocean I deal with.Rust on every house I paint out here in shelter cove California . I’ve painted houses for 32 years now . I used a lot of rust treatment products . But have to say the rust destroyer spray cans our the best product I’ve used . It makes it easy to apply in a spray can . No brush marks or thinners needed to clean tools when done . Not only does it cover the rust throughly but it converts it back to metal . Looks a lot like red oxide. But it’s an oil base formula that is patented , and allows you to paint with oil or water base paints with a 5 year guarantee To not rust . I use it on ever house and haven’t had a single problem it . I’ve used it on 32 homes in the last 3 years and no rust has come back . I recommend this product to people. A weekly bases. It is pricey, but you get what you pay for . But nice not to have to go back and repair or fix a problem .

If you are not using this product, you are wasting your money!

I've used this product on many items and it has worked for me better than expected. I allow for several days of "curing" before applying any top coat paint. The color of this product is matte brick/adobe red like the cap; I like it so much that I sometimes do not apply a top coat paint. I am currently using "Rust Destroyer" to restore outdoor retro metal chairs ("motel chairs").

Applies nicely. Looks like most other red-oxide primers. Dries in 30 minutes. I can't really vouch for its rust inhibiting attributes, but I have used the quart sized brush-on versions with good success. Top coat compatibility and the convenience of an aerosol is a plus.

This stuff works. Sprayed on several bad rust spots. After couple of days pieces that had been bending from dusting were now solid metal again.

I had high hopes for this product. I am redoing an old trailer. When I received the cans of rust destroyer, I hoisted my trailer up so I could get underneath it. Took the first can and shook it for about two minutes and started to spray - or tried to. It would not spray consistently. Ok I may need to shake it some more. Didn't help. I had to try and spray while continually shaking it to get any product out. Do you know how hard it is it spray and shake at the same time? Anyway I gave up on the first can and tried the second. Same thing. Don't know if it was a bad batch, or got frozen in transport or what. Anyway I had to go the box store to get a different product because I couldn't leave my trailer hoisted up long enough to get cans replaced.
