Works with Moen & half the price
Brand new Moen shower valve had a faulty cartridge. Bought this one to replace it with and it worked perfectly and at half the price. Easy to install with the tool, which is sold separately but is worth it.

Works great, and seems slightly better than OEM.
Replaced two of these in my home. Used an oem cartridge in the first, and ordered this one to have as a spare/backup. I decided to replace the cartridge in my spare bathroom, and figured I’d give this one a try. The old cartridge was extremely stubborn to remove, and broke apart during removal. The rubber seals had fused themselves to the valve body. I had to essentially pry and break the remnants out of the body. The body was corroded, and I was concerned with getting a good seal from the new cartridge, so I also purchased a 1” ball hone on Amazon. I’m glad I did. The hone allowed me to thoroughly clean up the inside of the valve, and gave me a nice smooth surface for the seals to mate to. The cartridge works great, and after a few months of daily use, is still leak free, and very easy to turn. I won’t hesitate to purchase these for my third bathroom, when the need arises.

Water Hammer After Install
Short version: Do not buy this, buy the actual name brand as my water hammer issue as described below was resolved after I installed the Moen brand. Long version: I bought this just as everyone else trying to save $35-40 but it wasn’t worth it. I bought this because we were having water drip from the shower head. I installed this product last October 2024 and ever since we would hear the water pipes hammer after turning off other faucets in the house or flushing toilets. Today (10/19/2025, yes a whole year later) I was determined to fix it thinking it was an unsecured pipe rattling. I opened up the dry wall to see the pipes were still secure and not moving at all when water would shut off. Dejected after not understanding what was going on and thinking I needed a professional plumber, I restarted research online. I saw a couple articles about this on other plumbing forums and then started reading the 1 star reviews on this product, to which I found others had this same exact problem. I went out and bought the $53 Moen 1222 cartridge from Home Depot and installed. WATER HAMMER IS GONE! To my wife and I’s delight we again have silent pipes.

Solid product, cheap extras
Product seems well made, fit and works perfectly for a Moen shower. Unfortunately, the valve loosener nut is a piece of junk and snapped with only a modest amount of pressure. Also, they literally give you a pill capsule of grease which is an incredibly cheap. Come on guys, you can do better. On a related note, highly recommend purchasing a valve cartridge puller tool, wouldn't have gotten mine out without it as it was seized up good from hard water.

Perfect replacement for Moen 1222
This replacement cartridge is better than OEM. I first bought the OEM version, it had a very tight fit even after I've sanded down the cartridge valve cavity to make sure it was smooth. The OEM version could not totally shut off. My shower head was constantly dripping. Then I've replaced it with this one and it slid in perfectly and it stopped the drips. Highly recommended. I've just bought 3 more to replace my other shower valves.

Fit much better than Moen cartridge
Moen faucets have a lifetime warranty. So, I got a free cartridge for my shower/tub faucet from them. A puller is definitely required to remove what was in there. I installed the Moen supplied cartridge, but it was a super tight fit and I had to hammer it in. In doing so, it was damaged and didn't work. So, I was in a bind since I have to shut off the water at the street. (newer ones apparently have a shutoff just on the hot and cold supply lines right near the fixture). Amazon had same day delivery on this aftermarket cartridge. I read some reviews that said this fit better than the Moen ones. That was true. It was properly snug, but easily installed and it worked flawlessly. Plus it was a lot cheaper than the Moen one that I looked up at home depot when I realized I needed another one. In the future, I am not taking the free Moen cartridge, but will use this brand.

No more drip
I took a chance on this aftermarket 1222 cartridge, and glad I did. Installs and functions the same as Moen for much less $$.

Buy Moen Brand, Not This Junk
I bought this as a cheaper replacement for Moen Brand. It went in well and seemed to work OK. A year later I started getting a water hammer sound anytime water was turned on and off anywhere in the house. I suspected something in the valve wasn't right. After checking everything else for water hammer I actually bought a water hammer reducer but it didn't fix it. I happened to read an Amazon review for a Moen brand cartridge and it said it fixed the water hammer problem. When I removed this off brand cartridge, the seals were no longer attached. My recommendation, Spend the extra money and buy Moen Brand. Not this off brand junk.

No me gustó que se me descompuso la llave del baño pero si me gusto que encontré por línea la refracción igual y a buen precio y la entega fue antes de lo señalado.
