Instructions horrible, missing parts, unaligned lock pin— but seems like good construction
We got the 5 step version.BASICALLY.Despite what my headline says I am confident these steps will work just fine after working out the problems. And I think they will last a long time since it is made of heavy aluminum and built decently. That is why I gave these steps a decent overall review.GOOD.The redeeming points are: the construction of the steps seems solid enough and the welds seem tight. Also, the handrails going all the way up and that, combined with the angled steps, make these much much easier than a standard ladder to use for getting in and out of the water from dock.BAD1) we had to puzzle out the instructions,2) we had to make an adjustment for the lock pin to work, and3) we had to purchase some missing parts. As is usual with many less expensive items made in some non-english speaking countries, the instructions are $#%* and, as often happens, there are missing parts. (We had to go out and purchase 4 missing washers). Also, the drawings of the parts with the hinge bolt do not really look like the part-- which made it confusing-- and the text is much too small-- so we had to puzzle out which parts went where. (See image for help figuring it out.)Here are some (hopefully) helpful notes:1. The one wider step gets mounted to the handrail assembly-- not the step assembly. (My husband attached the wide step on wrong place initially and had to start over-- if instructions were clearer this would not have been an issue.)2. The steps need only the short bolts and no other parts to attach them to the handrails. All of the other parts go with the long hinge bolts that attach the stairs to the handrail assembly so it can flip-up. (See better drawing attached)2. You will need to make the second hole that the lock pin goes through a little bit larger to allow enough wiggle for the pins to go all the way through and into the step assembly holes. (Important: Don't make the holes on the flip-down step assembly part larger or the little ball on the pin will be too loose and not click in.)I hope this info helps.Cheers

Great Product! Get the Angle Right!
Two old boomers put it together in about an hour. Use a drill/screwdriver. The only issue is the pivot point for the steps. Take your time, review the picture over and over, then use three hands to get it done. Do NOT over tighten, it's got the lock nut, not going anywhere. We mounted our swim ladder at the end of a 50-foot pier in about 5 feet of water. We lag screwed a 2 X 10 at the end of the pier for the vertical angle of the ladder to press against. We spent a lot of time using shims to get the angle to exactly 90 degrees. I believe that people that don't do this step are the ones that bitch about the holes for the pins not lining up. Ours were perfectly aligned.Under our plastic pier decking where it was to be mounted, we used 2 X 6's flat against the underside of the decking, screwed to the wood stringers for reinforcement. Then we held the ladder in place and used the four mounting holes as a guide to drill through the decking and the 2 X 6's. Six-inch carriage bolts, done deal. You're Welcome. Old guys rule.

Excellent Lake Dock Ladder
Very sturdy, simple to assemble and install, and the tread width was what just what we were looking for. Basically a five-inch wide tread, super comfortable on the feet, especially for my wife who badly broke her foot (three plates and 23 screws) two winters ago.

Heavy duty stairs.
Worked as advertised. Sturdy and easy to install. Well made product. 300 pounder easy in and out of the lake. You will need to purchase installation hardware based on your instillation.

I read the negative comments. Manufacturer must have listened. This is perfect.
Not the cheapest but the best for sure. Use stainless steel lag screws if you are in salt water.
