Genius Collagen is a must-have for long distance runners and cyclers
Short review:Genius Collagen is an amazing product for a very reasonable price. I recommend it to anyone who runs or cycles long distance and suffer from joint pain/soreness the following day. It also increases hair and nail growth while making your skin stronger/healthier.Long review:I live in the middle of Boston where it is hard (i.e. impossible) to find softer trails to run along. After long runs I would experience pretty intense knee/ankle pain. I purchased Genius Collagen to see if it could back the inflammation and knee pain at least a little bit...What I wasn't expecting was it to FULLY eliminate any sort of joint soreness I would feel after a running day!I tested it in the following way:Ran an 8 mile run, took two servings of genius collagen after. The next day I felt zero soreness in my knees or hips. Two days later I ran the exact same route and decided NOT to use Genius collagen to see how it would affect me. The next day I felt the normal knee pain/soreness I usually get after running long distances on mostly asphalt and concrete. Took 1 dose of Genius collagen the day after that run and any lingering knee soreness was gone the next day.I highly recommend to anyone suffering from inflammation or joint pain of any kind. I also noticed my hair and nails grew much faster than before and that my skin felt stronger. I think the natural pain relief component is what really sells this product, however.A quick comment on taste and mix-ability:Admittedly, These factors of a supplement are not that important to me. I will say, however, Genius collagen is virtually flavorless and mixes very well in hot coffee or room temperature water. It's harder to mix in any sort of cold liquid but that's to be expected with any mixable powder. As people have noted in other reviews, the Tumeric root extract gives a slightly tangy/burning sensation that you may or may not enjoy (I liked the sensation). Either way, it's extremely subtle. In general its a very mixable powder that can be added to any of your favorite drinks and is most easily added to blended protein shakes / smoothies or hot coffee. The Ingredients:Some more info on the main ingredients (bovine collagen peptides and curcuminoids) for those interested --1.) Bovine collagen peptides: Collagen is an abundant protein in your body that is both naturally produced and acquired from diet. Collagen as a supplement typically comes in two forms: bovine (cow bone extract) or marine (fish bone extract). Bovine collagen peptides have been shown to improve type I and III collagen which support skin growth whereas marine collagen improve types I and II which supports overall skin health and cartilage production. - Taking bovine collagen as a supplement has been shown to increase bone formation and mineralization which reduces symptoms caused by osterarthritis- It has also been shown to reduce visible signs of aging by raising the quality/quantity of skin collagen thus promoting skin elasticity and reducing wrinkles etc.- in several animal studies, collagen supplements were shown to reduce bone loss and for this reason is suggested to prevent osteroperosis in humans.2.) Curcuminoids are active compounds/molecules isolated from tumeric root extracts. They have been shown to contribute several anti-inflammatory properties that can reduce chronic and acute inflammation throughout the body. It is also a potent anti-oxidant that is capable of neutralizing free radical agents that are naturally produced by the body. Also, Curcumin has been shown to increase the production of the brain growth hormone BDNF (brain derived neurotrophic factor) which promotes the growth of new neurons and may help ward off neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's and even depression.Other studies have shown that tumeric root extracts (Curcumin) can prevent heart disease, cancer, and arthritis while delaying several symptoms related to aging.Overall, I believe Genius Collagen is a fantastic product for a decent price. I've observed night and day differences in my recovery from workouts specifically in regards to knee/joint inflammation. The one critique I may have is that they could potentially improve the product even more by adding marine collagen peptides to provide cartilage support and provide comprehensive support to all types of collagen (I, II and III). Additional anti-inflammatory/joint support supplements could also be added such as celadrin.

Easiest mixing collagen I have ever used!
Due to joint and ligament issues, I have been using collagen supplements for years. I've used it in a variety of forms, but most prefer the versatility of powder over other forms. Unfortunately, I have constantly encountered the same issue with these powders. They clump into unappetizing globules that seem to float around my morning coffee, tea, or protein shake.I was frankly hesitant to try Genius, largely because I was expecting more of the same, but since their protein powder mixes so well, I figured I may as well chance it. I was not disappointed! No floating clumps, no residue that sank to the bottom of my cup into a disgusting, pasty-looking surprise, and no taste at all!I drink my coffee without sugar, artificially-flavored creamers, etc. So taste, or lack thereof, was especially important to me. But instead of affecting the taste, it actually seems to have helped smooth out the bitterness of even the cheap, terrible coffee my company orders. Using proper, high-quality blends, the powder does not seem to detract from the taste either. I will say that using two scoops over one, there is a more pronounced "burn" at the back of my throat, similar to an Irish coffee, which is kind of soothing. I think this is caused by the turmeric and I expect not everyone will enjoy it, but I like it!I've gone on long enough about mixability and taste. More important are the benefits that you're supposed to get with collagen. I will say I have noticed a difference in my skin which my wife has also picked up on. The internal benefits have been more noticeable as my knuckles don't seem to get so inflamed any more after a long day of typing. My left knee, the bad one, typically becomes inflamed as well after a workout, resulting in soreness, a burning sensation, etc. However, the more I have used this, the fewer issues I seem to be having with that as well. I am writing this two days after my last routine that involved jumping squats, lunges, etc. and my left knee isn't bothering me in the slightest! As I continue using it, I will see if I've noticed any other changes. For now, I would certainly say their collagen does the trick!

I like it, but it's pricey
I put the collagen peptides up there with Vital Proteins or Bubs - they seem good and effective, and are much more odorless and tasteless in coffee than some of the cheaper brands I've tried. I can still taste them (people who say they can't must have broken tastebuds?), but it's minimal enough that I continue to use them.I like that this product has turmeric derived "CuroWhite" for its anti-inflammatory and immune benefits. While I can't say I taste the turmeric, I do notice a bit of a peppery "bite" on the back end. This bite, however, is very slight. One thing that struck me was the cost for what you get. I paid $29.99 for this (which was refunded as part of a promotion) and, when the container came I laughed and thought it must be a sample size. The container only has 15 servings, and each serving only has 10g of collagen protein. Compare that to Bubs Collagen Peptides, or Vital Proteins, which both cost $43, but have 23 and 28 servings, respectivly, and each serving has 18g of collagen per serving.I received this product as part of a promotion, but am leaving my honest feedback. If you can afford it, this seems like a great product.
