Great little stool, but be willing to fix it.
On mine, the legs re-positioned after use just fine. However, the seat supports would not collapse back into the closed position. I came online and read these reviews. I pulled and pulled, but could only get one to slide out and collapse properly. That is even after loosening the screws. I took out all the screws and removed the seat supports by twisting and pulling. It's obvious that the slots to accept the tubes are simply too small. I took a Dremel and removed a small amount of material from the side plastic. I also used the Dremel to remove a small amount of material from the sides of the tubes. I then sanded the plastic and tubes smooth. I put it all back together and the seat collapses perfectly and it doesn't wobble or shift when open. Oh, also, one of the legs was mounted 180 degrees off. I removed the screw, turned it around, and returned the screw. But now the seat works perfectly, just as I had hoped it would. I like that it came with a slip cover. However, like the tube slots it is too tight. If it were only slightly larger the seat would come in and out more easily and silently. After a 30 to 45 minutes fooling with the stool, it works! It's just what I wanted and needed. It's light and compact; perfect for packing into the field. I usually use ground blinds when hunting, so this will be much preferred over bucket stools, collapsible stools that don't pivot, etc. I haven't tried drawing my bow from it yet, but I see that others have done so successfully. It's the perfect height for rifle use with my bi-pod. The ability to adjust the height makes it preferred over some other pivoting seat solutions I've seen. I have yet to find a stool that more adequately meets my needs.

Five Star Item it Mfg Makes Changes
All-in-all not a bad stool and it did it's job as advertised.THE GOODIt easily holds a grown man (I'm 190 lbs). It's relatively comfortable for a short period of time. It's more stable that I expected even on soft dirt.THE BADI've removed one star from my rating because the legs of this thing are a pain to get folded back up. I read the reviews before I purchased and saw that many individuals had complained about this and had broken the legs trying to fold it back up. What I have found is that you have to flip the stool up-side-down and pull the legs away from the swivel base. This will release the "locking mechanism" so that the legs can be folded up. This mechanism holds the legs in place so it doesn't collapse on you while your sitting on it which, of course, is a good thing. However, it can be a real pain to get the mechanism to release but there is no reason to break the legs.I removed the second star because of comfort. I use it while I'm hunting to get my backside off the ground. While it accomplished this it became very uncomfortable after extended periods of use as the rods that hold the seat material start to dig into your legs, etc. It also doesn't have a backrest which can add to the discomfort (I of course knew this and that didn't factor into my rating - my fault). If the manufacture could find a way to (a) make the legs fold in more easily and (b) find a way so that the seat bars don't dig into my legs it would be a five star product.

Getting better!
This is an updated product. The original version got TERRIBLE reviews. I was hoping they read the reviews and fixed the issues, so I gambled. I'm happy I did. Let me start by saying that this stool is rated at 200lbs. I weigh in at 215. The stool swivels quietly and supported me fine. It took a second to figure out how to fold it up seeing as how there still aren't directions with this stool. Just pull out on the posts that support the seat and it folds right up. Who does that, right? It takes two hands to set up, and it barely, and I mean barely, fits in the carry bag that it came in. I threw it out and just carried it after the first use. It still isn't perfect, but it's a LOT better than sitting on the ground. I like how easy it is to turn and draw my bow without having to move my feet or stand up. Overall, I'm pretty happy.

Solid, functional seat for the price
So many negative reviews... I was hesitant, but you can't beat the price. I bought two to use in my pop-up blind and I'm glad I did. Yes, the seat arms have to be pulled straight out or the jaws of life won't even be able to do it, but a firm pull in the right direction and mine fold up fine. Is it the most comfortable seat ever? Of course not, but its also designed to be an alternative to sitting on the ground, not a replacement for your favorite recliner. Very portable, and sturdier than the stated design weight may indicate- I'm probably 25% over the stated limit with all my gear, and I have had no problems. The swivel works great, too.The real winner in the equation for me is the adjustable legs. I can set one seat for me and one for my grade school son, or set a leg or two differently to compensate for uneven ground (not an uncommon situation).I'm sure you could find a better alternative for about 4 times the price. At this price, this does everything it needs to do.

LOVE the PRICE of this stool, but HATE the Quality
I have purchased several of these seats to use in my deer hunting ground blinds so that I can swivel around and see out all 4 sides of my blind with ease. I LOVE the price of this stool at $16, but HATE the quality. The first time you use the seat, you will notice that the bars for the seat lock in place and are nearly impossible to fold back up. I have broken the metal bars that support the seat on several of these stools trying to get them folded back up. Since then I have learned that if you forcefully pull up and out on each of the bars supporting the seat, they will pop out (unlock) so that you can fold the seat back up. If you don't do this and simply try to forcefully fold them back in place, they will break so be forewarned. Ameristep really needs to step up their game and improve the quality of this stool and the ease in which it should fold back up.

Ottimo sgabello.
Eccellente sgabello, leggero, robusto, confortevole.
