Interesting Movie
This film has an interesting cast, apart from Moria Lister, Leslie Philips plays a police inspector and an early girl friend of a member of the royal family plays a cabaret artist with a sinister intent. Lloyd Bridges is always good value. The location shots of early post war London are interesting. The plot is not wholly predictive.

What a disappointment
Aside from the fact that the overall quality of the recording (obviously the original, not the reproduction), is extremely poor, the actual story itself left me feeling decidedly "short changed".The picture quality was very bad and, as the film progressed, it worsened, so did the soundtrack. I think it was shot during a fog, with a lot of people in the background making funny noises! I've seen better quality from films made in the early 1940s.My English teacher, even when I was very young, told the class never to write a story that ended up "When I awoke, it was all a dream". However, whoever wrote the script for this film, obviously didn't have the same English lessons as I had, as this is precisely what happens. There were a few times, when I was "held", however, the acting appeared "wooden" and even the great Leslie Phillips couldn't bring character to the blundering police detective that he portrayed. I have much respect and admiration for Leslie, as he has always been a fine and versatile actor. However, this part just wasn't right.Hence, there wasn't really a story at all. A man (Lloyd Bridges) falls asleep on an aeroplane, on the way to Britain, to meet his girlfriend. He dreams that a fellow passenger is shot dead, while on the tarmac. His girlfriend isn't waiting to meet him, but it transpires, by an amazing set of coincidences, that she was in love with the dead man, who, himself, was a criminal. It then transpires that he faked his own death and someone else was murdered in his place. The girlfriend was being blackmailed for letters she was supposed to have written to him and Lloyd Bridges manages to blunder into the police investigation and make a complete fool of himself. When it is almost all over, he wakes up on the aeroplane and realises it's all a dream. Of course, his girlfriend is waiting for him and, of course, nobody is shot on the tarmac.I could have told the entire story in about 10 minutes, hired some second-rate actors and shot it in Super 8 film, making about the same amount of money it did at the time! I wouldn't have paid to see this dreadful let-down of a film at the cinema and honestly couldn't recommend it to you.If you want sheer intrigue, brilliance and quality, try "Chase a Crooked Shadow"; now THAT's a film to remember.

Soundtrack has a nasty humming almost the whole of the film...
I was really looking forward to this film however although the picture quality is reasonable the soundtrack has a nasty humming which is made worse by the need to play the film at a high volume because the sound is low. I have said this many times before but if a film has a problem like this that is throughout most of the film then it should not in my opinion be released on DVD.
