Amaryllis, Paperwhites and Poinsettias: Growing, Propagating and Reblooming Your Holiday Plants

I've always liked planting these around Christmas time, and this has been an absolutely invaluable guide to doing so. It is truly everything you need to know about them, how best to grow and nourish them, what diseases they may get and how to protect them from these. There is a whole chapter devoted to the different diseases of Poinsettias, which is fantastic because this is always a concern.On each plant is included a chapter on its history and origins, also (depending on the plant) information on hybrids, new breeding trends, indoor and general care requirements, ideal outdoor growing requirements, new cultivars, plant shape and proportion, miniature varieties, commercial propagation, outdoor care requirements, and of course propagation methods etc - and much more besides. There is a wealth of information on each plant! This is definitely all you need to know about Amaryllis, Paperwhites and Poinsettias. Also included at the end is an additional resources section for more information on each plant. If this was a paperback version it would be "well-thumbed!" Highly recommended!

The book is broken up into a detailed section for each plant. Starting with some background information, the author covers a wide variety of information you should know going forward. Such as, what to look for when purchasing, how to care for them during season and then after, popular colors/designs and how to recognize and treat diseases that can effect the health of your plant.I think that these plants warrant their own book, as they have specific needs, and the author has addressed them very well.Additional resources at the end of the book will help with additional research and care for each plant, as well as notable suppliers. If you are looking for a book to give you information on taking care of amaryllis, paperwhites and/or poinsettias, I would recommend starting with this one. Before those holiday plants die, you will want to grab this book.

This is pretty much the definitive guide to raising amaryllis, paperwhites and poinsettias. Even if you have never taken care of a plant before in your life, this book lays out everything you need to know about taking care of these flowers in a way that is so easy to understand and absorb that you will feel like an expert in no time. The book is loaded with helpful tips and advice that really work and only can come from a complete pro. This is sure to become your go to book anytime you have a question or problem when they come up.

This is a “homemade” book by an unknown author. Literally read it in five minutes. Wikipedia entries are longer. Its 40 “pages,” but not really, as per photo of typical page. I feel tricked and the reviews are obviously fake. There’s more info on how to grow these plants on the bulb seller’s websites than in this “book.”

I found this to be an excellent guide. Very informative, detailed and helpful. I've always loved poinsettias but I always seem to have trouble in growing them successfully. This book gives me some great tips and advice which I know will help me. I like the history and general advice it gives on the amaryllis and paperwhites. I did find the contents page a little cluttered but this is only a minor thing in my opinion, the bulk of the content is well written and well put together. All in all a great guide for green thumbs when it comes to these plants.

I got my first Amaryllis this year and with this book I was able to get my Amaryllis to grow and with six blooms on it. (No Lie). I was so excited I took a lot of pictures just to send to those who doubted me. I am just over the moon with happiness because I didn't think I could grow this plant. Now I am going to go on to trying my hand at the ever hard to grow Orchid. Thank you for giving me the ability to have yet another beautiful plant in my house.

I'm new to amaryllis, paperwhites and poinsettias growing and this was perfect for what I needed. There is so much confusing information when I search online that it's nice to have everything I need in one spot from someone who actually KNOWS what they are talking about. I certainly recommend this guide book!

I loved this book. It covers everything anyone interested in growing these flowers, from basic considerations to special warnings to future trends. The photos are very well chosen. The writing is well done, too, which tells me the author kept her reader -- the every day interested gardener -- in mind. A great book on the subject for a great price.

I read this book as I have both paperwhites and armarylis growing in my home at the moment and it was really helpful

I bought this as a present for my sister-in-law, hoping that it would be full of horticultural advice on how to re-use her Christmas amaryllis. It turned out to be a much slighter book than I had anticipated, and I'm not sure that the author really knows much about amaryllis anyway. There is nothing here that can't be very easily found on the internet on gardening/horticulture websites. Don't bother with it.
