Good value small and effective Wifi Dongle
Biggest problem is that if your lap top has no CD drive and no, or dodgy wifi adaptor like my Jump EZpad, loading the driver from the web or the CD present a bit of a challenge. The Chinese web site and included instructions are typically unhelpful but once installed, it works ok. Reception is good and range does seem better than with most built in adaptors. Download speeds are more than adequate for my needs though I have not been able to test it at above 100Mbp.One niggle is that the Jump EZpad laptop does not respond well to it being taken out, even if dismounted properly and the machine needs to be restarted to get the USB port to work again.

Download the driver first.
Works great on Linux provided you install the correct driver first. 1. Download the 88x2bu-5.8.7.4 driver. 2.Extract it in you Downloads folder. 3. Open a Terminal and type cd Downloads and press enter, then type cd 88x2bu-5.8.7.4 . You are now in the 88x2bu-5.8.7.4 folder. Now type sudo ./install-driver.sh then enter your password and let the driver install. Reboot your computer, plug in the adapter then it will work .

A pain to install in Linux and slow in Windows
I bought 2 and tried both, so it wasn't faulty, but it was half a day wasted trying to make them work properly . I normally buy the older N rated ones because they just work and are fast enough for most things.I also bought them on the back of reading a most Linux compatible USB wi-fi article that rated these highly, so I was expecting to them to just work with minimal fuss. Failed in MX Linux, Mint and Manjaro and frustratingly eventually got Manjaro to see networks but refused to accept my password, which I knew was correct because I've never changed it in years and used the show password option to make sure of no typos.Eventually I resorted to Windows 10 on a spare machine, installed the drivers and managed to connect to my wi-fi using the password I know works - and it did. Progress at last, but my joy was shortlived when I went to 'ookla' to test the speed of it. 2 Mbps ! WTF! I get 20+ on the N rated ones which is only a fraction of my ethernet wired connection but still usable and 2 is definitely not. I only bought them for more speed (for the sake of it) so I'm more than a little annoyed and will be returning them ASAP.

Don’t work out of the box. You have to download the driver from the chip manufacturer.
