Varmint Guard Fan Pipe Cap with Screen - Fits 3" Pipe

This fit right over my vent pipe, you will need to secure with screws , tape , or adhesive. Did not impact air flow for furnace, but kept the birds nest out.

Caution: After putting two of these in each end of a 'T' mounted on the air intake for my Lennox furnace, during a cold snap, the furnace stopped running. Finally, after 3 calls for service, the last tech suggested that the wire in the guard was adding enough resistance to air flow that the furnace sensors shut it down. He asked, and I agreed to let him cut off the elbow coming out of the house. The furnace immediately began working and hasn't missed a beat since.I'll put the (unglued) intake 'T' and screens back on when the weather is consistently warmer and remove them when it get cold. The screen fit very well - can be as snug as you want. Be careful if you plan on removing them. It can be a battle.A little on-line research about this problem revealed having those screens in place during cold weather is not an uncommon problem.While I had them mounted, obviously there was no problem with critters crawling into my furnace's plumbing.

Just what I needed for the vent pipe for the new shop bathroom. Solid construction, perfect fit. Would have given it 5 stars but it's a bit expensive for what it is.

I bought this 3" item but found out it's too small for my furnace pipe. Want to return it, but the seller only offers $4. This return policy is outrageous and illegal! It's against the consumers fair trade codes. I demand a full refund amount of $13. Wish there's a negative star!

Glad I was able to find this in a size that fits the PVC pipe coming out of my house, related to my new high-efficiency furnace. Works great, and will keep critters from crawling inside my house.
