This is easy to use and looks very nice. I ordered 2 sets to make growth rulers for my grandchildren. I followed the directions on the 1st one and all went well except there was a residue of the adhesive on the board that had to be cleaned. On the 2nd one I did the strips of marks one at a time. I laid them all out on the board, but only took the backing off the one I was working on at the time. I placed it on the board with just enough pressure to keep it in place and then used a spoon with a rounded end to rub the marks and numbers down. I tried to keep my hand off the board and only rub right over the decal. This worked great; there was much less clean up to do. There were a few that I was worried about whether they had stuck all the way, so I took a piece of the paper that they had been backed with, placed it over them and rubbed some more. It seems to work best to take the backing paper off straight, but when you peel the paper off the decals on the board I had better luck peeling the paper off at about a 45 degree angle. I had originally planned to paint my marks and numbers, but I feel like this looks much better than I could have done with paint. I was surprised that they were blue, not black.

Great product, clear and detailed instructions. Much easier to apply the vinyl decals than I had anticipated. I went with a painted board and it turned out lovely.Don't order this if you need to have it finished immediately. The stain or paint must cure for 24 to 72 hours before applying the decals, and if you are painting, you need 24 hours between coats. If you're in a rush you could get a pre-finished board from your local home improvement store.One more thing, the inch marks and numbers are dark blue. It would be nice if the company offered black, sepia and some other colors.

made a growth chart for my granddaughters, I used these decals and they worked great. Instructions are easy to follow. After I mounted the decals on the board I put several coats of clear satin over them, using the sames as I painted the board which I did first. DO NOT use a rough surface for the decals as they will not stick.....they tell you this also. I used a wider board as this wil allow room to mark off to the side each person growth record.

I ordered these and went to use them and instead of them being black they were royal blue! I was very disappointed to say the least. I had ordered several sets of these and had no reason to believe they would be anything but black. Of course if I had opened them when I received them I could have returned them, but I put them up until I was ready to use them a month or so later…too late. All of them were blue. Nothing on the website indicated they would be anything but black. Anyway, open them when you get them!!!

I love these DIY ruler growth charts & was so excited to make one for our home. But my excitement quickly turned to anger & frustration when the decals turned out to be BLUE!!! All their pictures show BLACK. I AM SO DISAPPOINTED! And of course you can not see the color of the vynal until the packaging is open. NO WHERE does it say blue or give you the option to choose a color. I will not be buying from these guys again nor will I be recommending to anyone!

Although this doesn't state it is black decals I think it should be specified that the decals are a dark blue. They look black in the photos.The kit itself is easy to use. The instructions are easy to follow. The decals are not of the highest quality due to some uneven edges but they work! If they were black, I would them over and over as I make large growth charts for my small business.

I've been wanting to make a growth chart for my son and have seen cute ruler styles around online. So when I saw this I jumped at the chance to try it out and I'm very impressed. Its super easy to make the ruler style growth chart and looks professional. Much better than buying one premade because you can choose what color you want the wood to be and it looks much more professional than trying to paint the numbers and lines yourself.
