Latex pillows are amazing
These pillows are great!. If you've never used a latex foam pillow, here are a couple of things to know:-They hold their shape and spring back to the exact same shape every time, like memory foam, but faster and a lot softer-They do not hold heat like memory foam-The foam that fills the space between the bed and your neck will not choke you or press on your jugular (for side & stomach sleepers)-These pillows do not have pressure points which is great if pillows often press on your sinuses making it hard to breathe, or if your ears or other parts of your face tend to feel mushed or pressed. This may vary for different people, but it's the most relief I've ever gotten.-These and most brands I know of are the same shape on both sides, so if you like the cold side of the pillow, you can just flip it over and around to any orientation to get that just laid down feeling and since they instantly spring back to the same shape, you do not have to worry about trying to get comfortable again because it's not supporting you the same way as before (like down and other stuffed pillows).-IMPORTANT: Firmness and thickness vary greatly between brand and model. I've seen some so thick that when you lay your head on it, half of your face goes missing because you sink down into it. Some are more firm than others, but if you are not fond of the pillow compressing to about half of its size before your head stops sinking (personally I love it) then this may not be for you.ABOUT THIS PILLOWThe one I received was extremely soft and became firmer the further my head sank into the pillow until it was firm enough to support the weight of my head. For me, the pillow was about half of its thickness at this point. The pillow is not very thick to begin with so it becomes pretty thin. This is fine for me since I like to lay on my side and eventually roll to my stomach. I don't want a thick pillow when I lay on my stomach. The pillow has holes throughout it, which I suppose make it breathe more, but also makes it softer and compress more. I definitely wouldn't mind a thicker latex pillow or one this size without holes in it since these don't get that hot anyway and are already soft, but it's still the best pillow I've laid on in a long time.I used latex pillows for years until I stopped being able to find them in stores. Since then I have tried synthetic down, down, memory foam. Nothing compares.

loved the first one I ordered, the others are different...
Edit and update : I gave his five stars last month...then I ordered three more because my son stole it from me and I wanted some more pillows for our house. My experience might explain some of the review issues on here...I love the pillow that came for my, but the others I got are different- higher and firmer and I cannot sleep on them because I was waking up every night by 1 or two with neck and shoulder pain. I swapped out for the original one I bought to test it and felt great all night. My husband doesn't like this type of pillow and I had him feel them and lay on them to see if I was crazy and he immediately identified the one that was softer and not as high. Pretty disappointing considering there is no way to know which version of this pillow will arrive in the mail.Original review:I have been searching for a year for this pilllow...have a latex foam pillow i got (for I think $100...) about 8 yrs ago at Brookstone and it was finally getting flatter and the cover had sort of fallen apart, etc but I could not find a comparable pillow and I didn't know what type it was called. I finally realized it had the little holes in it and was able to identify it via google and found this one so gave it a go! My son was also always stealing my pillow so now he has taken this one & I'll have to order myself a new one! It isdefinitely best for back and sometimes side sleepers- because it is springy & a bit deep, on your side you need to be kind of near the edge or you might have some pillow in your face. Only complaint was the odor took at least a week to dissipate- I left it fully uncovered for almost 2 full days & it still smelled, and then finally about 5 days later I couldnt smell it much when I put my face on it.

Horrible stench never goes away (otherwise great)
Eleven years ago, I purchased this same pillow in a store in my hometown. It had no odor at all. It has been the best pillow I have ever owned. It cured neck pain that I am prone to due to surgery as a teenager. It has been wonderfully supportive and like sleeping on a cloud. I wanted a second one (could find none in my town) so I ordered one from Amazon. The new one was flatter and much less supportive at the edges but that may have been caused by Amazon's extremely poor packaging. It was thrown loose into a much larger, extremely flimsy cardboard box that also contained computer speakers and heavy subwoofer. The box arrived considerably damaged. The pillow was wedged in a corner with the subwoofer and speakers box up against it and the rest of the big box empty. There were a couple of pieces of wadded paper in the box but not nearly enough to cushion the pillow or keep the two items separate. Besides, Amazon states that the pillow will be shipped separately but it wasn't.The second, and worse, problem though was the horrible smell. There was a chemical stench coming off it. I removed the zippered cover and aired it for 5 days. I could smell it from 6-7 feet away. The odor was that strong. Finally, the odor seemed mostly gone so I put the cover back on it and my pillow case and that evening laid down on it only to smell that odor again! I had to remove it from the bed and sleep on my older identical pillow.I aired it again for over a week and the smell actually got worse. I am not sure how that is possible so, perhaps, I just became more sensitized to the smell. A friend walked into the room where I was airing it near an open window and wanted to know what the bad smell was so it wasn't just me who noticed such a bad odor.During this time, I tried repeatedly to contact Louisville Bedding that manufacture's it. My emails kept being returned as undeliverable and the error message indicated something wrong with the company's email setup and not a problem on my end. I also tried calling the company but I got an after hours message even though it was during their announced business hours. I tried a second time and got a message that said I needed to know the extension of the party I was calling and did not give an option to reach customer service (although I was calling the customer service number on their website). (Perhaps the company was closed since it was mid December but with the emails returned as undeliverable using the company's address from their website...well, it seems they don't want to be reached).I ended up returning the pillow and had to find my own box to return it in since I could not use the large, badly damaged box it came in. I am very disappointed as I really wanted a second one of these pillows. I am going to try again after the holidays are completely over to reach the manufacturer. I have reluctantly come to the conclusion that something has changed for the worse in the manufacturing process of this Talalay latex foam product. I was seriously considering my next mattress to be Talalay latex foam but after reading comments at various websites about the horrible odor from many of these mattresses I no longer want one. As for my original Beautyrest Talalay pillow, I just hope it lasts another eleven years!
