Michelle‘s brother Steve I have carried a dragonfly for over 20 years, until I lost it. Got this dragonfly 2. To replace my old dragonfly. Still love it, even though the price has gone up. Love the size, light weight, and ergonomics of the grip. I Like that you can choke up on the blade without cutting yourself. This is especially useful on a knife this compact. It’s easy to open with one hand and the lock feels secure and safe. It was nice and sharp right out of the box and I like the shape and size of the blade. Seems to have all the same good attributes of my previous dragonfly. got one for both my son and myself. Also got a dragonfly 2 salt with serrated blade.

Final conclusion: I'll give you this first, if I lost this knife, i would immediately order another, no question, no comparison shopping. Usage: Have used this regularly for over 4 years (among other knives). Great for daily tasks and being out of the way. Wear/Durability: It looks surprisingly good despite the fact it has not been babied. The wire clip (a normal wear point on solid clips), frn handle, and vg-10 blade all show virtually no wear. Function and looks are as good as new, maybe just smoother opening action. Size and weight: So light and small you'll forget you are carrying it clipped or free in your pocket. As opposed to other knives, this is one I feel free to throw in my pocket with keys. Forget it is there until I need it. You have to decide if this is big enough for your personal needs, but for the size I would say it is hard to beat. If you have notions of heroism, you probably want to size up. The size is also non-threatening to others, if that is something you run into. Blade: The edge has held up well. No difficulty sharpening on the sharpmaker or strop. The profile, like other spydercos slices nicely, which is a lot of the daily use case for most people. Sides show very little wear, some tiny scratches with a flashlight and a hard eye (could polish them out if I cared). Plastic handle?: Never had any issues or felt like it would flex too much or fail. Nice grip. Doesn't feel cheap to me, some might be bothered. Wasn't sure I liked it at first, but I'm a fan now, in this size knife at least. Grip: For the size it is suprising how full/secure of a grip you can get thanks to the finger grooves and jimping on the back of the blade. Compared to the delica I only have half a pinky less on the handle (delica fills the hand more though). The finger grooves also protect you from sliding toward the blade. The scales are grippy. Opening: Some have complaints about one handed opening. Do it all the time, don't get it. Closing one handed is not an issue either (though it is a two step move like any lock back). Maybe it just fits my hand well? Maybe back off on the tension screw? Looks: Personal preference, but I think it looks great. The best looks of the spyderco frn/polymer handle lineup imo. Some other frn knives look weird to me (even though I own and like them). Value: I just feel like it is overpriced, there are a lot of good budget knives out there. Yes the steel is nice, yes I have praised it highly, but practically/functionally you can get a knife in this smaller size range for half the price, and this knife is not twice as good. That said, i like this knife more, and I've easily gotten more value and use out of this per dollar than some other knives I own. I guess I'd say this, I wouldn't mind keeping another dragonfly around or a different blade steel, but price is just enough for me to hesitate (but if I did lose this one i would immediately replace it).

Before Reading the LAST paragraph below, keep POINTS 1-4 in mind regarding configurations: 1. DRAGON FLY 2: w/ VG-10 Steel, Plain or Serrated edge: This knife is good for everyone as the steel holds and edge well, and resharpens easily enough, it is also relatively corrosions resistant. 2. DRAGON FLY 2: w/ ZDP 189 Steel, Plain edge: FIRST, THIS IS AN EXCELLENT KNIFE: I have not seen it offered in a Serrated edge but they my offer it I am not sure: This knife is ONLY GOOD FOR THOSE WHO ARE EXPERTS AT SHARPENING KNIVES. This steel is extremely hard and holds and edge exceptionally well. The disadvantage is that it takes someone who is a very skilled sharpener to resharpen and work with this steel. It is 3% carbon so it is susceptible to corrosion if not cared for properly. 3. DRAGON FLY 2: w/ H1 Steel, Plain or Serrated edge: This knife is good for everyone. This steel is advertised as RUST PROOF. This steel is relatively hard and holds an edge well, and resharpens easily enough. 4. DRAGON FLY 2: w/ Aogami Blue Super Steel (Spyderco does Sprint Runs with this metal), Plain or Serrated edge: This knife is ONLY GOOD FOR THOSE WHO ARE EXPERTS AT SHARPENING KNIVES. This steel is extremely hard and holds and edge exceptionally well. The disadvantage is that it takes someone who is a very skilled sharpener to resharpen and work with this steel. It is a high carbon steel so it is susceptible to corrosion if not cared for properly. However. Syperco counters this by sandwiching the Aogami Blue Super Steel between a layer of 420J Steel on each side. This protects the Aogami steel from chipping, breaking, and corrosion. THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE CHOICES. IT DOES TAKE SOME EFFORT TO SHARPEN CORRECTLY AS NOTED ABOVE, BUT THE RESULTS ARE WORTH THE EFFORT! NOW, WRITTEN BELOW ARE MY GENERAL COMMENTS ABOUT THE KNIFE IN GENERAL. THE ABOVE FACTS ARE SPECIFIC TO THE DIFFERENT CONFIGURATIONS OF STEELS AND BLADE TYEPES OFFERED. I am a huge fan of the Spyderco Dragonfly 2 in any of its configurations. This is a smaller knife that does not know it is a smaller knife. Its ergonomics allow it to be used as a larger knife. Its small size allow it to be used as an excellent ED (Every Day Carry). You can take this knife out in public, and because of its smaller size, most people do not generally look at you like you are evil or at looking to do harm to others. This knife has a generous blade and its light weight of 1.1 oz. makes it a joy to carry as you can easily forget that it is even in your pocket. The pocket clip allows for easy deployment and can be switched for left or right carry or you can simply take the clip off and carry it in a pocket. This knife can even be used on a keychain or a neckless due to its light weight. I own many expensive knives, but this relatively inexpensive knife has become on elf my favorite knives. NO MATTER WHICH STEEL YOU CHOSE, THIS KNIVE IS CAPABLE OF EDGES FOR HAIR WHITTLING LEVELS OF SHARPNESS!!! THIS IS AN EXCELLENT KNIFE NO MATTER WHICH STEEL OF BLAKE CONFIGURATION YOU CHOSE. IT IS HARD TO GO WRONG WITH THE PURCHASE OF THIS KNIFE!!!

I own several knives, including Spydercos and Kershaws and Leathermen. This is a superb little knife. Although it does not have the G10 handle, or a metal handle, the plastic handle is well made and sturdy, and is extremely lightweight (moreso than the other materials for a handle). For a pocketknife, the blade is generous, stout, and sharp as a razor right out of the box. The thumb hole works well to flip it open, but because the knife does not have the heft of, say, the paramilitary, you will not be able to easily flick it open like lightening, if that's your bag. It does accept the zip tie on the thumb hole for a quick pocket open, if that's your penchant, baby. It's a wide and deep blade for it's small size, so you can use it for everything from coring an apple to filleting a fish to skewering a moose. It keeps a sharpness that is good for a pocketknife (but not as hard as Paramilitary, but then again, easier to sharpen, too). The pocket clip is the metal "paperclip" style, which is grippy but inconspicuous. This baby is so lightweight at only 1.2 ounces (the Kershaw ZT350 is 5.7 ounces, and the Spyderco Paramilitary II is 4.7 ounces--anvils compared to the Dragonfly!), you can't even feel it in your pocket. For an EDC in the pocket, there is none better. I think the price is steep for it's size, the handle material, and the blade stock. For the price, the manufacturer should have at least put on a SV30 blade (it's a small blade, how much could the difference be between this and the upgraded blade material?). You can price shop and see that other Spydercos like the Tenacious, Manix, etc. are, proportionally,not that ridiculously more pricey than the Dfly. So, you must decide over a more generous blade for a few more bucks, or a stealthy pocket rocket like the Dfly that you will never mind carrying because of it's low profile, great clip, and featherweight. I love these little knives. I have had my main one for 5 or so years now. I’m a female, ride horses, and am a massage therapist. the two inch blade works for everything I need. From cutting fruit and cheese at work, hay twine to zip ties it holds its edge extremely well. I have lost my knife twice in the paddock which is an acre of las vegas dirt(celiche) both times my horses have managed to step on it embedding dirt in the grip and even a rock in the clip the second time. Never breaks. It fits in my pocket comfortable while riding and bending over while I trim hooves. It also fits in the tiny pockets they make in women pants when i am out and about in town. I bought a second one for work (cant even feel it in my yoga pants) and one for my sister. I HIGHLY recommend Spyderco love their quality and customer service.

I confess. I'm a member of the EDC cult. I carry a knife every day. No, you won't get the secret password or handshake from me. Those are only conferred if you carry a knife for a year and a day without fail. I don't belong to the exalted orders. I'm not a warrior who carries a knife that can be opened instantly with one hand. (and who gets extra point from his beer buddies if his knife has a tanto, armor pearcing point) I'm not a woodsman who spits wood with his knife and is ready to skin a deer with his knife. I say he because, while women can join the cult, they mostly have better sense. I'm not a collector, who is often a member of the knife geek order. I don't own dozens of knives am not able to discuss the metalurgy of my knife blade. (okay, I'm a bit of a knife geek but mosly with kitchen knives). I am a member of the lowly pocket knife order who wants a small knife to use at humble tasks such as opening packages, letters, blister packs, freshness seals and the like. I use it for garden tasks like cutting twine or harvesting broccoli. I sharpen carpenter's pencils and trim window shims. I use my knife to clean my fingernails. Real pocket knives, not knives that slip into a back pocket with a clip, are small. Most of them have terrible ergonomics and are hard to hold while working with the blade. Many pocket knives don't have a blade lock and can fold onto a finger. I have a severed tendon in one finger for evidence. Many pocket knives are inexpensive and have cheap steel in the blades. The Spyderco Dragonfly II is a small, ergonomic, light pocket knife with excellent steel. It does have a clip, but that is easily removed to make the knife even more pocketable. The handle is durable and easy to grip. The Dragonfly easily handles all the day-to-day tasks I throw at it and holds a very sharp edge very well. The blade is short but that's what makes the knife pocketable. I've found it plenty long enough just about anything I've thrown at it. I've even used it to section apples. The marked curve of the blade makes the cutting edge equal that that of a bigger knife. If you want a bigger knife, go for it. If you want a big enough knife to handle everyday tasks. Look no further. I've found very few products to be as nearly a perfect fit to my needs as this knife.

This knife, the Dragonfly 2, is definitely a five star product and would deserve a ten if that were an available choice. The blade, the handle, and the opening and closing mechanism would be difficult—if not impossible—to improve. It won't do all jobs that can be done with a knife but it can do a surprisingly wide range of them. The following information covers some of the details. I had used three Spyderco models previously, the most recent a ZPD-189 bladed Delica model, which was ideal for most of my purposes. However for some types of slicing the grind line is too low (even after I had raised it to the bottom of the circular finger hole). This makes the tip of the blade too thick, particularly for one particular need. I was previously able to finish off incomplete corners when cutting photograph mats with the very thin point of a Leek blade instead of carrying a razor blade for that purpose. The wide, thin, flat grind of the Dragonfly blade does job nicely and the wideness—heel to edge distance—of the tip area provides reassuring strength. I've used the Dragonfly for about a week and still don't know how its designers could build such a capable knife that could be so easily carried. Though I'm still getting to know it, I have found that so far it handles everything I generally need a knife for. It's useful for minor cooking chores—though not ideal for chopping vegetables or slicing tomatoes. It's good for cutting paper or small rope or cord, separating glue-attachments on envelopes or cartons, opening packages, etc. Sixty or seventy years ago I would have wanted several folding blades in my pocket with thicker blades with different shapes and one blade for rough jobs that I would hate to subject the Dragonfly to. Around the house I can attach the Dragonfly to the placket of my shirt front, or clip it like a pen in a shirt pocket. The rounded edges of the wire clip seem to be kind to clothing but durable and provide a secure grip on thin and thick material. When open, the handle-blade silhouette is quite pleasing. Unlike many other Spyderco blades the placement of the finger hole doesn't necessitate a humped-back appearance. The opportunities for hand positions are well planned and this knife could serve as a large scalpel if the necessity arises. I have several suggestions. Keep it sharp. I would use a razor hone if I didn't have several of the McBinn ultra-fine stones. A rag wheel with a green polishing compound is ideal if a shop is available but rag wheels can be dangerous. Don't go near it with a diamond stone unless the blade is damaged and needs reshaping. My blade is VG-10, easy to sharpen, easy on the budget, and adequate if the knife is frequently touched up and not mistreated. I use a knife fob on all small knives that have a hole for one. I make mine of small cord allowing one or two finger widths of length between the end of the handle and the terminal fob button or knob. This button or knob can be buttoned through a loop on a wrist lanyard (think fishing), a short lanyard attached to the belt to back-up the clip (bushwhacking), or to quickly access the knife. In addition, on short handles, the pinkie can wrap around it for added security.

This is a great little knife. The blade is only 2.28 inches long, which makes it tiny. Its thin blade, combined with fiber-reinforced handle, make it light. It's a very good steel, Japanese VG-10, and the blade is full flat ground, which helps make it strong despite being a thin blade. It uses a back lock, which makes for a solid, sturdy, and strong lockup. It has a bushing pivot; while the pivot is not as smooth as a ball-bearing pivot, it is much less susceptible to dirt, which can be an issue if it is dumped into a pocket. It even has a very usable, deep pocket, wire clip that can mount on either left or right side, but only with the tip up. Quality build? This knife is made in Japan, and its quality build is excellent. Right out of the box, the blade is literally razor sharp. I had no need to hone this one before putting it in my pocket, unlike a few other blades I've bought in the past. Best features? Small size Light weight Build quality Sharp out of the box. Worst features: Small size. This one will take getting used to for me, but it is exactly what I wanted for a small knife. One-hand open. It's more difficult for me because of its size. FRN. Yes, I know. Fiber reinforced nylon is a great handle material. It's strong, durable, and light. But pretty it isn't. Price. Sure, it's reasonably priced for such a nice knife. But if you want to save money, there are alternatives at one-third to one-half the price that are nearly as good, and for some people or purposes, they may even be better. For some years I used an Imperial Ireland folder as my tiny knife. Why it needed two blades, I never understood, and I always hated its lack of a blade lock. It would sharpen up like razor very quickly, but would lose its edge nearly as fast. I needed something more modern, something nicer and with a longer lasting edge. The Spyderco Dragonfly 2 was a good choice for me. It is about the same size as the Imperial Ireland, but better in every conceivable way. When I need a tiny pocket knife, it is perfect.

Cómo todas las Spyderco, esta navaja rezuma calidad por todos lados. Su acero es magnífico, mantiene el filo sin problemas. Corta muy bien (hay que tener cuidado), y el tamaño de la hoja no es excesivo, puedes llevarla a diario sin problemas. Ich bin total begeistert von diesem kleinen Spyderco Messer. Sauber verarbeitet, rasiermesserscharf und von der Haptik einfach genial. Das Dragonfly 2 ist eines der besten leichten und kompakten Taschenmesser. Sehr schöne Klingenform. Neben der Ergonomie bis hin zum Tragekomfort gibt es nichts, was nicht vorbildlich funktioniert. Im Gegensatz zu den billigen China Clonen Null Spiel am Verschluss oder in der gesamten Mechanik. Das Messer ist top verarbeitet und jeden Cent wert.

Syderco Dragonfly 2 är en liten och smidig fickkniv. Brukar växla mellan denna och Fällknivens U4. Använder den mest för att öppna förpackningar / kartonger, skära sönder kartonger innan dessa ska ner å återvinningen och liknande enkla sysslor. Det lilla bladet är fullt tillräckligt och handtaget ger ett bra grepp och underlättar arbetet. Samtidig tar den nästan ingen plats i fickan.

Me encanto la navaja tiene un tamaño suficiente para la mayoría de las tareas cotidianas, excelente filo, muy discreta y bonita a la vista. La recomiendo.

It performs well as a knife, but the design is also very cool. I always enjoy using it.
