"Y'know what, I think they are making sandwiches. IF you know what I mean."
Buffy, Season 10, Book 3: Love Dares You dares you to get by with a minimum of action and heaps of relationship dialogue. This volume dedicates itself to relationship therapy. So many affirmations. Each of the Scoobies gets to explore their festering romantic baggage, even if it's as miniscule and comical an interlude as a h0rny 12-year-old Giles' raging hormones temper tantrum.Maybe some spoilers.Willow's going thru her own thing, dating a green, scaly, immortal, otherdimensional trickster-type. Meanwhile, I frankly don't give a what about the ongoing awkwardness between Xander and Dawn. Probably because Xander has lost his shine on me. I haven't liked that dude in a while now. No, what hooks me in are Buffy and Spike. The best bits continue to revolve around their heart-to-heart discussions. Buffy and Spike are strictly just friends now. Buffy's speed-dating. Spike's consulting with the San Francisco police. And, yet, Spuffy shippers shouldn't despair... In the Buffyverse, the status quo rarely stays inert.Christos Gage writes the thing, with some assist by Nicholas Brendon. And while this set of stories is character-driven, they don't neglect to toss in some actiony beats. Andrew "superheroes" it up to combat the Sculptor, a super-gross demon lord whose body is composed of dead human flesh. But it's Spike who introduces the Big Bad of the week by way of his having nightmares about killing people - only to learn that those people in his dreams are actual murder victims. And, sure, the instant impression is "Uh-oh, it's just like when the First was messing with him." But, no. It's a whole 'nuther villain. So, the storytelling's solid. We're treated to some really good character work and pretty nice action sequences. The reading experience would've been better, except Megan Levens. I don't like her art style, which is simplistic, cartoony, and what's up with the dark, heavy outlines? The way she illustrates the characters renders them unrecognizable. The quality picks up tremendously when regular artist, Rebekah Isaacs, steps back in to draw the last two issues. Meanwhile, Steve Morris' cover artwork keeps on being stellar. Why can't he do the interior art?

Sorry, good but bad, happy, but sad... ✌🏻🥀🧟♂️🥀💔🤦🏼♂️
The Buffy gang look too much like censored Barbies, from Riverdale, not Sunnydale. Art aside cont. thru story, & sad artist renderings & you become really disillusioned. The Big bad is a great concept, except for Souled Spike. He gets too lost again in the naritive, & James M.s bffs with Nicky. Giles, is laughable. Buffy is back to being a self centered whimpy B.The Scoobies are reduced to flat charactures, from the Sunday funny pagesWhere's the sardonic, that puts the Spike in Spike? & The dark humor, that is about season 7 Buffdom? Raise you're hand if Eew! Best part of the series is that Spike/William & Buffy try an make a real go of it. They are only too cute for words. 💓🤟🏼

Wasted Years, over.
This was so good. Buffy and Spike FINALLY admitted to each other they were in love!!! Another "secret" was revealed. It was about the guy who had a crush on Spike in season seven.

This was great. I love all of the Buffy and Angel comics. I'm so grateful that they were able to continue the series into the comics. I wish all of the canceled TV shows I love would do this.

Spuffy!

Never disappoints
Each issue never disappoints. This one continues the saga while also diving a bit into Spike's origins and promising future crossovers. Happy to also see some meaningful self reflection from Buffy that results in her making a decision I strongly support!
