Wow!This Djembe is fantastic! I have played wood ones and man made material types with both synthetic and goat skin heads. This combination with the shell being synthetic and the head being goat skin it sounds like and resonates a authentic wood djembe drum. It can be very loud if sound hole is off the ground.You can also tune it and they give you instructions on how to tune it. Don't try to tune it, you will mess up the perfect tuning it came with. I would characterize this as a first-strike weapon. :-)By that I mean, of course, that it is a perfect choice for beginners. But I also think it will serve very well for percussionists who travel a lot and appreciate a djembe that is light and easy to move around while still sounding and looking great.I had a gig recently that needed djembe and I'd always wanted one. I wanted something pretty light but durable, and the 12" size seemed like the best choice for both a deep bass tone and portability.The shell on this drum is synthetic so it is really light and easy to carry. It has a goatskin head and has great tone and more than enough volume for my needs. I haven't had to tune it yet with the rope, but the djembe came with the instructions on how to do it.One small feature worth mentioning is that the bottom of the drum has a rubberized covering, so it won't scratch floors or snag on rugs. I would have preferred a brighter design that looked more "African" to the Egyptian hieroglyphic design. (Yes, I know Egypt is in Africa.) But people really liked the look of this one, and I don't care that much. The sound is the thing, and this drum delivers without breaking your wallet or your back.

Used it just as it came right out of the box! No tuning was needed and has stayed in tune for months. Is not sensitive to leaving it in my car in hot Fl temps or changes in air conditioned venues. Still havent had to tune it which is awesome! Has wonderful rich base and great slap tones. I play this drum with a mic in a band. Sounds great in the mix! Very happy! So is the band! ;~)

Great low resonant tone! A little trashy on the top end but it gives a diversity of of sound. Filled the room. Excellent for the money.

I ordered this for my grandchildren and it came with a sticker on the packaging saying it can cause cancer. Oh my gosh…and I cannot get a response from Amazon. They just keep telling me to talk to the seller. This is awful.

Really Nice Drum great sound. you can play low volume or make it roar. Your packaging need to be done with more care. The rope was packed tightly against the top of the drum and has left a permanent, although faint, mark. It's not bad enough that I will let it bother me, but, it cost you 1 star. If you are thinking of buying 1 of these Djembes GO for it and enjoy.

Quando l'ho acquistato io l'ho pagato 40€. Soldi ben spesi. Ha un suono molto bello e varia molto in base a dove lo colpisci. Non è dipinto, un disegno stampato un po' pacchiano lo circonda. Sicuramente é molto colorato e vivace. Per fino a 60€ ritengo che sia un buon acquisto!
