Locking Pill Cutter

1. With the lid open and the hook of the pin facing the hinge, push the locking pin into the slot until it clicks. 2. Push the lid down until it clicks to CLOSE. 3. Push the hook of the pin in and lift the lid to OPEN. I've bought two for others and two for myself. Cutting can be impacted by the type/size of pill, placement, how/if the cutter is held, and how the lid is closed. Overall, it's effective. Though it's not perfect every time, it's better than other cutters I have used. The locking pin will stay in place when utilized but can be stored in the cutter as well.

I really like a couple of features of this particular pill cutter. It has a nice sharp blade and requires minimal pressure to cut tablets. The red "V" that holds the tablets is a rubbery material, so it really grips. The locking cover is great to keep small fingers away from the sharp blade. But I like it best because a week is 7 days and 4 x 2 halves is 8 halves. When I fill my weekly pill case I always have an extra half a tablet left over and it stays safely in the "tray" section in the cutter, rather than trying to put it back into the pill bottle and then trying to fish it out later. The only downside I've seen is that it doesn't work as well for small caplet shaped tablets as it does for round tablets, but that just means a few extra seconds of getting the pill lined up. This is the second one I've bought. I finally broke the little hook that holds it closed after a few years - it was my fault, not the cutter's. Unlike the other reviewer, I couldn't find this exact model at the drugstore, and I really wanted the locking one.

I wanted a better pill-cutter, and this one is very much like the one I was replacing. I can't find a different model anywhere. More times than not, I end up with very lopsided pieces. I am cutting a small uncoated tablet for my cat, and the split starts in the right place, but the thin blade must tilt, because the cut slants to one side, with one of the pieces much larger than the other. So it's very hard for me to make sure my cat is getting the right dose every day. I really wanted a splitter that had a mechanism to hold the blade vertical during the splitting operation. Even better, I'd love to have one that quarters tablets, which is what I really need. So maybe 30% of the time I get a good split, and the rest of the time I have to divide up crumbs (and maybe cut some more pieces so that I'll have crumbs to divide) to try to get equal doses.

There are a lot of pill cutters on the market with various stylistic differences. We've tried at least a half dozen different ones. I like these the best. The little latch provides a very nice positive lock you can trust if you need to use the cutter to carry some meds around occasionally - far better than the typical mediset. Also, as a minor note, the hinge strength is surprising. I have yet to have one fail on those big calcium citrate monsters.

This little thing is not perfect but it is pretty close. The only thing I have against it is that it sometimes holds the pill a little too well and I have to knock it against the counter rather hard to get the cut pill to come out. Yes, it sometimes leaves a little powder when it cuts but I feel like one that cost much more would do the same. After all, the cutter blade is essentially a razor blade. I don't have any issue with the size of a pill but rather the hardness. It cuts through soft pills like they weren't even there. Hard pills give it a little resistance but with a little more pressure they cut quickly and accurately. What else should it do?

I needed this for a specific medication that I'm trying to use less of by cutting the dosage in half. But the pills are small to begin with, so I needed a cutter. This works. Sometimes it seems like the halves aren't completely 50/50 but that's probably due to my alignment of these small pills versus the cutter itself. My next review might be for reading glasses ;-) This is a good value for the money, and seems durable enough to pay for itself many times over versus paying for half doses of my medication

I bought two of these thinking the first one must have been a fluke with quality control slipping, but I was wrong. This item is just really poor, poor quality. The first cutter’s safety broke within a month or less, and the cutter isn’t sharp at all leaving my pills crushed. I gave this product another chance. I purchased the exact same one again. But, the safety mechanism on the 2nd cutter broke within two weeks! Additionally, the cutter is off center and is worse at crushing the pill than the first one. It seemed to have a dull blade or it dulls out very quickly. I went to get a refund after the second one on Amazon and you have to call to get a refund bc it’s a medical item. IMO it’s not worth the time to purchase something that will break in 2 weeks, crush your medication, and then u have to jump through hoops on the phone getting a $7 refund. Not worth it.

I have used a previous pill cutter from same company for 5 years, cutting 90 tablets in 30 days. It was time for a new one. This pill has a scored line in center & about 3/8" diameter It usually cuts round pill exactly in half unless i get in a hurry. It even cuts a very small 1/8" diameter pill accurately. Good product.

ピルカッターといえばこれ、というくらい長く愛用している商品です。Ezy Doseのものをずっと探していましたが、輸入品だからか、当時よりずいぶん高くなってしまって、ようやくAmazonで手頃な価格で発見できたので、今回は複数個まとめて購入しました。 薬をしっかりホールドしてくれる構造で、ヒンジ側にかけてわずかに傾斜がついているため、大きめの錠剤や割線のないものでも安定してきれいにカットできます。 薬を保管できる小さなポケットや、安全ロック付きで不用意に開かない工夫もされており、実用面でもとてもよくできています。海外製（おそらくアメリカ）らしく、しっかりしたつくりです。 粉が素材に付着しやすい点はありますが、使用後に軽く洗って水分を丁寧に拭き取れば問題なく使えます。刃の部分は湿ったままにしないようにはしています。 愛猫の投薬にも使うつもりです。
