Panamax MIW-POWER-PRO-PFP Power Outlet Faceplate - Silver

On the recommendation of a friend, I bought three of these a couple of years ago when we were installing my new home theater system back in 2011. I wanted clean power going to the new TV, receiver, and any other connected components and these outlets did the trick. They do require being at the end of a circuit or, in my case, I wired each of them into their own separate breakers. They cannot be daisy-chained like standard electrical outlets so do beware of that before you buy.With regard to how well these outlets work, they got tested a month or so later in 2011 when Hurricane Irene stormed through town. The power at my house "dipped" at least a dozen times with varying degrees of severity but all of the components connected to these outlets did not waver once, not even in the slightest. The power going to the components is clean, steady, and surge protected and with Hurricane Sandy roaring through last year the household power again dipped at least a dozen times but the components never got anything less than a clean, steady 110 volts of power. (And yes, I do admit I was one of the lucky ones whose house did not completely lose power but I couldn't really write this review had that been the case.) My plan to relocate and refurbish my home office is going to include installing at least two more of these outlets on their own circuits for my computer, printer, and scanner.So with a little work, these outlets will provide clean, steady, surge-protected power to any electrical devices you connect, giving you at least some peace of mind even in the worst storm conditions.

Panamax has been providing power protection for years and is the only gear I trust with my personal gear at home and (if possible) anywhere I'm asked to provide a solution for A/V power protection. Don't get me wrong, there are other good brands out there; Monster makes some great stuff as well and I often use them in A/V racks.However for flat panel TV's, electronic art, digital signage, or other delicate power requirements - These things are great! This is the 4th time I've purchased and chosen to install the Max-In-Wall Power Pro devices for my personal installations. This time I bought 4 of them for TV installations throughout our offices. We are prone to brown-outs and all out power outages/shortages on a semi-regular basis. We installed these to keep the TV's as healthy as we can.I would love to see Panamax increase the well depth on these, if at all possible considering a standard 2x4 stud space availability. I need a way to get the standard NEMA plugs to be flush with the wall to allow installation behind super-slim (8mm) mounts. Believe it or not, even with the sunken power wells, the NEMA plug sticks out a little and doesn't allow the TV to sit perfectly shear when mounted on a super-slim mount.On the other hand, using a tilt mount and mounting this ABOVE the mount (such that the top of the TV tilts out anyway, as though it's looking down on you, ie. digital signage) works GREAT, looks great and these definitely protect our wall-out electronic investments.

This is the perfect solution for wall-mounted HDTV's, offering superior surge protection as well as two recessed plugs for additional room behind your new set. The new LCD and Plasma TV's are very sensitive to voltage surges; however, if you're mounting the tv on the wall, space is at a premium and the last thing needed is another device between the set and the wall. As a result, many people decide not to try to fit a surge protection device behind the set. You're asking for trouble if you do this. I highly recommend this device as your solution.Compare the specification on this device with most protectors in your local store: you'll find it has superior technical specs, with the added, and welcome bonus, of eliminating wires, and offering the recessed plugs, for even more room to plug in the TV and another device (like a DVD player). It has indicator lights to confirm the voltage to your set is normal and another light to tell you if you have a problem.Installation is not difficult, even for a novice. Just make sure you turn off your breaker switch to your outlet before you start! Follow the directions in the package, and you're ready to go. It's more expensive than some other in-wall solutions, but the added features are worth the price. Highly recommended.

The MIW-POWER-PRO-PFP offers surge protection and clean power management in an elegant package. I chose this for a DIY install of an LED-LCD flat panel in my home after evaluating a number of other popular in-wall power management options including Monster Cable's In-Wall PowerCenter and Power Bridge kits. Low profile was a key attribute for my flat panel and mount selections, and the recessed plugs of this Panamax unit ensure that the A/C plug will not push the panel out farther from the wall. Took my time selecting a location for the plastic work box (not included) and planning a route for a new home run back to a sub panel in my basement. Disconnected power to the sub panel, and then ran new 14/2 Type NM-B Romex cable to a dedicated 15 amp breaker. Once the planning was done, install was smooth and simple. I separately routed all low-voltage signal cables (HDMI, coax and ethernet) through the wall, keeping them separate from the A/C supply (with separate power surge protection as well). Now the flat panel magically floats on the wall and is protected from lightning and other electrical surges. This is a great power management option and the install looks completely professional.
