Trickle Star 183SS-US-8XX/7 Motion Sensor PowerStrip, 1080 Joules, 7 -Foot Cord

The strip must have a TV or CPU plugged into it to work. I can't even use at as regular power strip (never mind the motion detector part) unless I plug in a TV or CPU. Nowhere is this mentioned in the product description. I have no idea why it is designed this way, but it is a useless device. I would like to get my money back, but I bought it in anticipation of a remodeling and now that it is time to use it, my return window has closed. I am still perplexed by why anyone would design something like this. Hey Trickle Star folks, what did you have in mind as the use for this?

it only switches the power on when something is already turned on plugged into it. i could not test whether or not the motion sensor actually did anything because everything would automatically turn on when the control was turned on. i just wanted a motion sensor that turned a power strip on. this doesnt make any sense.

I just want a powerstrip that turns on when there is someone in my garage. This doesn't work. The instructions go into technical stuff about TV and peripherals which surprises me.
