Exactly what I needed!
This is the second printer I purchased for my 65 year old mother-in-law who occasionally needs to print medical forms, legal documents, and enjoys recipes.[The first one was a different brand I ended up returning, more on that below]I have not had much experience with HP printers in the past so after a failed first attempt with a different, known brand, I was ready to go in another direction. Overall, I am pleased and satisfied with this purchase. The initial set-up steps and app were easy to follow. I was able to get this printer connected to the Wi-Fi and 3 devices (iPhone, iPad, laptop) within an hour. The print quality was sufficient although I'm no guru on specifics. This printer seems to work well for an elderly person who needs something wireless, simple, and efficient. Based on my initial experience, I am more inclined to consider HP printers again in the future when the need arises. Although, I cannot speak to ink usage or pricing at this time.CON - there is no screen or display on the printer itself. If you were to lose connectivity with the apps, I'm not sure how you would be able to troubleshoot the printer. Fingers crossed, that day doesn't come.Note: this is the second printer I purchased for this purpose. The first one was a different brand and it was NOT easy to set-up. I fought it for almost 2 hours before throwing in the towel. There was no troubleshooting instructions included, only initial set-up - which would've been sufficient if it worked. The printer showed it was connected to the Wi-Fi network when I forced it to print a status report. It was showing as a visible device on the network, yet it was not listed as an option to print from any devices - laptop or iPhone, etc. The app it instructed me to download seemed buggy, would not allow me to progress through the steps, and was ultimately worthless. I unplugged that printer, repackaged, and returned it.

Impressed so far. The lack of a screen can make setup a touch cumbersome, but after that it's great.
Here's the short version of my review:Impressed so far. All in all, I wouldn't hesitate to buy this little guy again, it does everything I need and it's reliable and looks very sleek next to my desk.~The longer version:The lack of a screen can be a touch cumbersome upon initial WiFi network setup, you really need the app on your phone to do it, but after that it's great.WiFi printing works great and rather quickly once set up properly. Full sized glass on top for copying/scanning, which works very nice. Print quality is great for text and colors. I've printed enough to go through the first set of inks it came with. I haven't tried high-def pictures, this is only for text documents, charts, and other standard printing in my house. The app is handy and fairly easy to navigate. Not perfect, but what app ever is perfect?Has a nice gentle blue glow on the paper tray when all is well (not as bright as my pic makes it appear, it's gentle). Has a nice red X button that lights up when printing in case you need to cancel. The blue WiFi icon stays lit as long as it's connected. Has a handy fold-out paper catch when printing so papers don't fall on the floor, but it folds up out of the way nicely as shown in my pic.The setup 'manual' comes with some cheat codes for setup and such since there's no screen ("press and hold this button for 3 seconds to do this", that kinda thing).Ink replacement is easy, if you ever replaced ink before this is similar to many HPs, they just sorta plug in.~Instant Ink:I went ahead with the trial for Instant Ink and so far I really like the process. It's auto-renew. Think cell phone minutes. For a fairly low monthly price (you decide how may pages you think you'll print in a month) your printer tells HP when the ink is low and they mail you new cartridge(s) before you run out. Includes a prepaid box & label to mail your old ones back.Remains to be seen if Instant Ink is something I stick with. Like any subscription you have to wonder what's the best deal, will I pay monthly and not actually be using as much as I'm paying for, or will I get overages (but in all fairness they make those situations easy too)....or is this actually cheaper than the old order-when-I'm-out process...I am in the process of figuring all that out right now, but $5-10/month isn't bad in my book since I do a fair amount of work-at-home printing and I don't have to wait w/ dry cartridges for Amazon to deliver my new ones because I forgot to order them in time, or drive to Staples. So to restate my initial sentence, I'd buy this again. This little guy serves me well, was affordable, and looks very sleek in my home office, yet isn't so small that it feels like a toy. Nowhere near as big & bulky as the old brown HP all-in-one I used to have. In other words- darn near perfect!
