Sidewalk Oracles: Playing with Signs, Symbols, and Synchronicity in Everyday Life

I am grateful to have learned so much from Robert Moss; especially, how to work/play with dreams and synchronicity. What he shares in this book has helped me to open my eyes even more to how to be playful in my daily life with the "sidewalk oracles" that I may encounter. The very same week that I received this book I went to a variety gift shop in the downtown shopping district where I live and when I walked to the back of the shop I discovered a carousel lion with its mouth open. In my eyes, it very much resembled the lion on the cover of his book! I imagined it held the sign in its mouth that said "Come In" and acted as a symbol inviting me to be playful. Well, I accepted the invitation and continue to accept it. It was such an awesome surprise of synchronicity and I felt it confirmed to me that I am right track by aiming to be playful with the sidewalk oracles in my life. In being more playful, naturally, I feel like I have more courage to be my authentic self in the world which is a beautiful gift. Also, I love his poem in this book titled, "The Speaking Land." I read it nearly every day because it speaks so powerfully to my heart and reminds me of the magic that is present in everyday life. Robert Moss is a gifted storyteller and his books have certainly helped to infuse more juice into my life and dreams. I'd also like to mention that one day as I was driving and listening to a podcast interview with Robert I came up behind a vehicle with the license plates "TRTHTLR" which I saw as very appropriate in describing Robert and the wisdom he has to share.

Suddenly, I am finding myself changing my routines in my everyday life because of this book, Sidewalk Oracles. Life is calling me all the time. My dreams enter the world to find an answer in a bird, a word written somewhere in my crowded city. Magic has come to my world with this book. I must say that is a new way of approaching my days, with more adventure and gratitude. I just cannot say enough about the book, because after all, who can describe the magic of the soul once it is awakened to live differently? Thank you Robert Moss.

This is the first book by Robert Moss I have read. Even though I have read on many subjects pertaining to shamanism, dream work, signs etc.. I hadn't heard of Robert Moss and randomly came upon this book on my amazon book search. When I was waiting for the book to arrive I read some reviews that weren't favorable and I had a sinking feeling maybe this wasn't going to be very good but I was pleasantly surprised. I thought it was an excellent book. He is very knowledgeable and YES weaves many of his personal stories and experiences into his writing which I thought was great. He's poetic and well read and knows a lot about shamanic practices. I found myself looking up a number of things he mentions that I hadn't heard of like ancient divination techniques and so on.. this is a great book and the games he lists to try were excellent.

Love this book! In clear, concise, readable language, Robert Moss inspires us to open hearts and minds to the enchanting synchronicities of everyday life. He provides wonderful applications in the form of simple games and questions that encourage spontaneous creative play. Learning to read the environment for direction and messages is a skill, like dreaming, that is a matter of practice.Most wonderful of all is that the author does not seek to define anyone's experience for them, but provides the life tools to understand for oneself. This is a delightful book appealing to many age groups. It provides practical, useful information to recognize the everyday magic that is gifted to each of us as we awaken to the symbols and signs, sychronicities and coincidences that are always available.

I love this book! I recently interviewed Robert Moss for our Inspire Nation Show, and I just want to keep going back to his book, reading, and re-reading, and re-reading some more.We live in a magical world, filled with signs, symbols and synchronicity all around!Sometimes they're hard to see, but with Robert Moss (and his book) as your guide, they begin appeared, left, right and center! I love the stories Robert shares, and the interpretations he applies to events. It helps me see the magic, and the world around us, in a more colorful, vibrant light, as if he's lifted a layer of the veil.Out of all of the books I've read, this is one of the most influential for me. Why? Because life is truly magic, and having read Robert's book, I'm seeing more and more magic all around!!! I cannot recommend this book enough!!!

Ah, another magical book from Robert Moss. And with this one he encourages us to engage in a practice that re-enchants our lives. When we walk down the street, when we meet strangers while traveling, when we overhear compelling words in a nearby conversation, when we catch a license plate or bumper sticker that speaks to our lives, we have the opportunity to recognize messages from the Universe that are helpful, humorous, warning, surprising - and often come with goosebumps or shivers. So this book is both a delightful collection of stories and a wonderful teaching tool. The more we live by it, the more messages we receive. And the richer our lives become. Try it, you'll like it!

Fascinating read.

Robert Moss has no real affiliations with the shamanic cultures he has appropriated from. This comment from Edward Herman and Gerry O’Sullivan’s 1989 The “Terrorism” Industry, makes it clear that Robert Moss is not the magical guy you think he is. A bit of googling on his background reveals a long and insidious career. Manipulation of the public for politics and profit made him a rich man. His past career before selling himself as a dream shaman should be considered carefully. No where in his books, blog, website, workshops, or YouTube channel is this insidious past disclosed. Given his long and profitable history in manipulation, his offerings should be approached with caution and suspicion.“Robert Moss has been a major figure in the organization of terrorism think tanks and in the dissemination of the right-wing version of the Western model of terrorism. In fact, as Fred Landis has pointed out, “For a price, Moss would go to Rhodesia, South Africa, Iran, and Nicaragua and tailor his standard KGB plot to local circumstances, thereby justifying repression of the political opposition and denial of human rights.”Moss withdrew from the world of make-believe threat-conjuring in 1987 to write books and run workshops on the power of dreaming. But with his cutting edge expertise in seeding the collective unconscious with lies and fabrications for political and financial purposes, can it really be assumed that Robert Moss’s dream work is only about helping people to receive wisdom and gifts for your life?Robert Moss’s Students should be asking these questions.His books feel ‘off’, untruthful. So wie ich die Biographie des Autors verstanden habe, ist er ein Trainer für Träume, Schamane whatever. Egal. Zum eigentlichen Thema - meinem Forschungsgegenstand Synchronizität hat er eine Menge zu sagen. Er schildert es in Storys. Und die sind einprägsam. Er definiert eine neue Art des Lebens als "Kairomancer" ( I love that word) und empfiehlt u. a. auf den Kledon, den Trickster (Fox) zu achten und auch nicht die Bücherelfe zu übersehen. Robert Moss gelingt es mit seinen einfühlsamen Worten einen Kontakt zu dem Thema herzustellen, der einzigartig für einen Autor ist. Wer zu diesem Thema in die Tiefe gehen möchte, der sollte "Sidewalk Oracles" unbedingt lesen. Gäbe es 10 Sterne, ich würde sie vergeben.
