Music For Robots

There are two albums worth of notes packed into 20 minutes. It is fast and furious, yet delicate and layered. Headphones are a must, so you don't miss anything. Most enjoyable Squarepusher album in a while. He demonstrates clearly that he is an unparalleled jazz composer, besides having absurd technical electronic chops. There's even pipe organ and piano on track 3, which is brilliant, because the robots were designed to make the electric guitar much like a pipe organ or harpsichord. I only wish it were longer. Can't wait for what's next.

this is a standalone record that sounds very unique--jenkinson has been interested in robot bands and what it would be like if artificial intelligence composed music (im aware there are robots currently that do this) here it seems like a robot concept thing-- this is a good little gem

Found this album hard to like, must of it is experimental electronica and feels like it could have spent more time under refinement.

Despite being "music for robots", this album is surprising, refreshing, and emotionally charged. It is complex and experimental, but just knowing a robot band is playing this makes it so interesting. Powerful compositions = Sad robot goes Funny and Dissolver. Those 2 are worth the price alone, Great job Squarepusher

Electronic musicians dream of having robots that could play instruments, and instrument players dream of the precision of a robot. Squarepusher seizes the opportunity Z-Machines offered, going to town with their crazy-fast guitarist and drummer robots (I think there's a keyboard playing one too). The sound shows some influence from jazz, classical, electronic and avante guard. The compositions are great and highlight what the ridiculous rig has to offer.

This album goes in the "tonal" direction. You have to really listen for the various nuances of the compositions because it was only one tune I could really hold on too...but the musicality is deep, very deep...hence my 3 star rating.

Dissolver and Sad Robot are awesome. I wish there were more than 2 songs like this in the world.You Endless is pretty.The other 2 songs are kind of weak.

I did not find it particularly strong and consistent, but his direction is novel and requires further listening for a better understanding of what he is trying to do.
