Nice heavy duty with solid grip / sharp blade
Really nice small hatchet with sheath. It's SHARP!!! I got this to keep my tree suckers at bay. Tree suckers are the small branched leafs that sprout from the normal branches and trunk of a tree. I got tired of using my clippers so I got this. Works amazing because of the blade's sharpness....quick removal and help remove them close to the branches. It's very nicely weighted and the handle material ensures a solid grip for any task to take to. Thank goodness for the sheath also as the blade is sharp...be sure to clean the blade before storing because I'm not sure the material used would be long lasting from rust if you don't take care of it. I can find countless uses for this little (not so little) hatchet. Perfect for the road, camping, around the yard, splinting small firewood, breaking up overgrown bushes and more. I'm super pleased with my purchase and would buy again for it's multi-use capabilities, durability and compact size.

Only axe that lasted.
This is the only axe that lasted through my log splitting. I use this axe along with a 3lb mini sludge to split my 18" long logs for the fireplace. I own about 30 axes and this one is the only one that the handle and axehead did not come loose. i'm buying another because the back eventually mushroomed out after heavy beating on it for 2 years. It is still usable and did not Crack but it is hanging up on the wood as it goes through. I'm probably using it for more than it's designed for but it held up amazingly. Buy one.

Great Value
I was pleasantly surprised with this hand axe. The steel and the profile are very good and the handle is very comfortable. A lot complaints about the edge here. My thoughts are, if a man don't have the tools to put an edge on an axe, he probably shouldn't have the axe in the first place. This is a good tool, but if you don't have a good single cut bastard file, about 12" then you should order one as well. In about 15 minutes you can knock the edge down. A little stone work and you can make a razor out of it. I did add some paracord up top along with a crappy sheath that I got here (had to rework that POS). I split a half whiskey barrel full of kindling in about 20 minutes. I like it, it just needed a little work.

Excellent little hatchet!
Bought it to mainly use for splitting small oak blocks for burning in my chiminea. Good weight but not too heavy. Grip is nice and holds edge well. Love it.

For the price you can't really complain
It works, it doesnt come very sharp and I had trouble splitting small logs until I sharpened the hatchet. The "sheath" is just a rubber lip for the blade. For the price, you can't really complain about what you're getting. The axe head seems quality and with a little sharpening I think will last.

Comes with a mampostery edge out of the package
Is not all bad news, I like the shaft, it fits well in my mitt, the business end is not 5 inches, about 4 and 1/4 inches, not very sharp, maybe a 45 degree angle with no transition to the sides of the blade, it kind of crushed the wood and bounced back, instead of penetrating and releasing. The good news: with a medium flat file and a little elbow grease ( maybe 30 minutes of it) I was able to give it a more agressive 20 ish degree angle and a convex transition to the sides of the blade, making it capable of cutting some 3 inch dry oak branch with nice release and big chips of wood flying on every other alternating strike. I hope the pics I took with my left shoe camera are not too grainy. There is no scabbard, just a rubbery edge guard. The edge I put is good for splitting, that's why I needed the hatchetOne star down for the edge and price and another one down for lying about the scabbard
