Easier and faster than drilling holes
I had used these before on a previous deck and they are much easier, better looking, faster, and much more forgiving vs. drilling holes in 2x4's. Excellent product.

Great for the Stair Railings
Works very well. Drill at the angle of your railings and you won't have a problem. Great look when completed.

Trick So You Can Retrofit
Exact replacement for what I had. Original install was incorrect: person installed screws orthogonal to the stair rails, not vertical to the ground. Eventually connectors failed (split). Unfortunately these balluster connector schemes do not support repairing a situation like this unless you want to completely disassemble and rebuild the entire stair rail! First, I had to drill vertical pilot holes using the original holes as guides (recall the original screw holes were not vertical but at a right angle to the slanting stair rail). Then I sliced a slot in the part (with a utility knife), so that the part could be installed into the balluster at the top (the bottom was already in place on the lower railing) and then pushed into place around the upper screw. Then applied epoxy to the "slots" to keep the balusters in place.

Works great, just make sure your stairs have a slope ...
Works great, just make sure your stairs have a slope between 30 and 35 degrees or it won't look/work right.

A great look, really opens up the sight lines.
First, be sure your stairway is at the appropriate angle specified for these cups - they WILL NOT work for railings that are a non-standard (steeper or shallower) angle. Beyond that, they look amazing and really help to create a classy-looking staircase. I think they will hold up well over time as they seem quite sturdy, but they ARE NOT particularly easy to install, getting all of the balusters lined up properly to assemble the railing. Have at least 3 sets of hands and maybe a couple of good ratcheting straps handy to hold it all together as you fasten the top rail in place - and plan to be patient.Assembly difficulty aside, however, it's worth the hassle as it makes a seriously good-looking railing!

Elegant
Very attractive. Great value and it does not obstruct your view much... I've used it on three homes and it just looks great. Going down steps is a little challenging to install but worth the effort and end result...

I couldn't find these locally and miscalculated a project. I needed these yesterday and they happened to be prime. Now my front steps railings are done properly!
