Reliable SDD with multiple uses.
I've purchased 2 of these on different occasions and I will continue to buy this SSD. I use one for my Xbox One as an external extended hard drive. Data transfer is quick and does not cause any delay to gaming. I've used the other to backup my cell phone, as well as clear up space so I can continue to take high resolution pictures. Data transfer is easy and since there are no moving parts with a SSD you get the ease of mind of longevity with this product and you don't have to worry about over heating.

COPY 104GB OF DATA FROM COMPUTER TO SAMSUNG SSD T7
I copied 104 gb of data from my computer to samsung's T7 SSD portable storage and is taking more than 60 minutes to transfer, using the slower cable. i was ready to return the ssd to costco.I copied the same 104 gigabites same data from my computer to samsung's T7, using 2nd (faster) cable provided by samsung and it took 10 minutes.that is night and day difference. so the question is why would someone use the slower cable? is it because some people don't have the fast cable port on their computer?i got a sandisk ssd 1T, purchased at costco in 6/2020 and it transferred the same amount of data -104 gb and it took 23 minutes. samsung in this case, definitely has better technology. I believe sandisk T2 might just be as fast but i don't need another 2T ssd right nowSamsung has better technology because it is newer. Since chips are cheap and abundant right now, anyone in the market for faster ssd should be patient and wait a little because retailers are going to give you a huge discount.I got my samsung T7 ssd a few days ago at Costco, $70 discount from list price. I still like sandisk because i like the loop and design.by the way, samsung's T7 is still a little hot to the touch while i am transferring data. after i transferred the data, the harddrive is cool to the touch.I wonder why it is hot while transferring data, when there is no moving parts inside. huh? anyone?do the molecules in the harddrive bounce around and got excited with incoming zeros and ones? :)

$30 less expensive at Amazon than Costco.
I've only started using the device. It seems to operate exactly as advertised. I'm only sorry I didn't look on Amazon before purchasing the product at Costco.

Got this through Costco,. While the box said it supported Windows 7 and above, I plugged into an old Windows Vista computer and it works like a charm.

I WISH I HAD KNOWN - password protection available only if you agree to their privacy contract
This review is regarding the Samsung T7 touch external SSD, 2 TB sizePer their privacy contract (I live in the EU so they HAVE to tell me):"Information We ObtainSamsung collects the following personal information of you when you use the SW:- Required InformationIP address, OS, OS language AND INFORMATION ON THE PORTABLE SSD (Portable SSD SW version, Portable SSD Model name, Portable SSD F/W version, Portable SSD serial Number, Portable SSD security mode) ..."And later on,"You are required, AS A NECESSITY to enter into a contract, to provide us with personal data for processing as described above. IF YOU DO NOT PROVIDE US WITH PERSONAL DATA,, we will not be able to provide you all of the features available through the SW."...all the features? you mean the password and fingerprint options that cost me €60 more than for the drive without these "features"?If you go on to read who they share the info with, it turns out it could go to countries that have no privacy protections. Therefore Samsung cannot protect your privacy in any way regardless of all the legalese.I'm giving this product one star because nowhere in the description did it state I had to agree with their privacy policy (and what it was) in order to use the fingerprint or password security options - THAT I PAID EXTRA FOR. An option that cost me an extra €60.00! I could have bought the plain t7 ( both 2tb) and been satisfied. Now I am stuck with an item whose features I paid for but cannot use because I do not wish to share any information.I cannot return it either since I used it before I tried to install the software that would allow me to use the password features. I was home, it had not left the house, so I thought nothing of using it first. This privacy policy and the fact I HAD TO AGREE never crossed my mind!!!I have no way of completely removing the information without one of those deep clean reformats. Paranoid? Not at all, odds are against it, but still. It happens, so why not to me?Personally I call it blackmail -- Agree or don't get everything you paid for.I should have known before I ordered the item. They don't tell you upfront. You only find out AFTER you've paid good money for features you may not want to sign away your privacy for.
