Volkswagen T1 Camper Van

As advertised

Fun, complicated (but not overly) project for my spouse who grew up traveling in a VW camper bus.

This was a gift for my brother's 70th birthday last year. We used to go on business trips in one of these with our father in the 60's. He would leave my brothers and me at campgrounds around Michigan during the day when he made the rounds on sales calls. This reminds us of the good old days..

I gifted this to a 11 turning 12 year old after receiving the VW Bug for Christmas and it was a hit! She loves to put things like this together so I wasn't worried about her ability to do it. She completed in within a week, spending a couple hours a day. The age range on the box says 16+ but at the end of the day, they're still Legos, so I would gauge a child's ability to complete this on their attention span and love and dedication for building. There are a lot of pieces and it does take some time. The design on this is great and with the right builder and some time, you wont be disappointed! My only wish is that for the price, these specialty kits sets should came with spare stickers in case you mess up in applying them.

When I was growing up, my brothers got all the fun building toys, while I got dolls and craft kits. So I bought this just for me as an older adult, and it's a blast! The instructions are very clear, except for sometimes making it difficult to distinguish between grey/beige or grey/black for needed parts.Unfortunately, all the parts come jumbled together in lots of small plastic bags. One thing you must do before starting is to take an hour to sort all the parts. I put the large pieces in a box, the tiny ones by color into muffin tins, and all the rest by color. Now assembly is just plain fun!

Great addition to my collection. Pay attention to the small variations to the pieces that look the same. One wrong piece required some brief deconstruction.
