Used this on a lake that was heavy clay about 4 inches down, the scoop and carbon fiber handle worked great, the angle of the handle is set nice. If you’re serious about metal detecting the CKG is well worth the price and won’t leave you stranded like the cheap scoops and handles

Well, I finally got to try it after owning it for years and it works great. Great price for the money. Easy to put together and take apart. Fits well in my hands. Has a great design and durability.

This is an updated review. My 1st order was missing some attention to detail in manufacturing where the screw holes were missing from the scoop head and the pole could not be properly secured. (The pressure clamp was not sufficient to hold it.)This order was for my wife's birthday so it was a little disappointing to have to return it but she assured me that CKG was a solid name in the metal detecting community and wished for me to reorder with some finer model preference adjustments. (Wider scoop, removable lower handle.)The replacement came in fairly quick and she was made happy. She will probably drag me into her hobby and I will probably be ordering one for myself before long. I buy a fair bit of small farm equipment and both scoops had reasonably good looking welds and a solid feel to them.She made the observation which I see others have in their reviews as well where there is some play in the fiberglass handle. Yes, that is true, it is the nature of the 2-part fiberglass handle which allows it to be broken down into easily transportable size but it should not affect the ability of the scoop to perform nor its longevity.

This sand scoop works really good on the beach. It’s a little bit heavy, and I wanted to get the titanium one, but that one was way too expensive. This one is also nice, as the handle will come apart into two pieces, which makes it compact for Transport.

So much better than the smaller aluminum scoop I had. This bad boy will move some sand and it can break down so that you can travel with it.
