Police Squad: The Complete Series

it was great to see this show after having watched the naked gun films multiple times. The show is playful and has the same feel as the movies.

Whoever remastered this is a hero. I'm shocked that any sources of this were vaulted/archived well enough to make this possible. My grandfather was as close to a real-life Frank Drebin as you could get, so I'd be lying if I didn't disclose an oddly emotional conflict of interest regarding this review. I think it's great that it's been preserved to this degree, regardless.

Bought this on DVD out of fear the digital age will overlook this 6 episode masterpiece. Definitely a must have for any Leslie Nielson or ZAZ fan!

It’s still very funny though it’s clear it would end too soon by the cast.

Mine was a former library copy. You can also get this in a box set with the three movies for a reasonable price.I already owned all three, so I got this to complete the collection. The Zucker-Abrams-Zucker team were always a fun part of my childhood from Airplane to Top Secret. This series had a short life on TV, but has lived on as a cult hit with fans of midwestern style comedy, which can have a mix of absurdity & dry delivery that sneaks up and tickles your funny bone.It played on so many cliches & tropes from the popular police dramas of the day. I can't wait to sit down & watch this with friends & family when we need a good laugh.

I love the Naked Gun series, so when I heard of Police Squad as the precursor to the movies, I decided to get the DVD. And I am NOT disappointed at all! In fact, I've been binge-watching these 23 min episodes SO much that I'm getting burned out on it. If you like Naked Gun, you're going to love Police Squad just as much. The only reason is failed as a TV series was because YOU HAVE TO PAY ATTENTION TO GET ALL THE JOKES. This narrative, it turns out, was better suited to the movie theater. But on DVD, it's still GREAT! Lots and lots of literal humor and crackpot stuff going on all the time. Highest rating!

Heavy on visual gags that take a second to get but are hilarious when they are revealed. An absolute tour de force of Leslie Nielsen's wit.

In case you are disappointed that there are no more comedies like Naked Gun, Airplane or Hot Shots… this is a treasure trove!6 episodes of Frank Drebin prior to Naked Gun. I never saw these and was afraid that all jokes of this series would have been reused in the movies. I was wrong. These episodes are original cases with many fresh, visual gags.A must have if you enjoyed the movies.
