Crochet The Golden Girls: Includes 10 Crochet Patterns and Materials to Make Sophia

I am so happy to have this kit on my shelf!Unlike other crochet kits I have bought over the years, the book is much larger which makes the text much easier to read. I'm still not sure how I feel about the kit being attached to the book, but I think I will try to find a piece of styrofoam to put inside once I use the included supplies so it keeps its shape.I have been using Allison Hoffman's first book, AmiguruMe, for years now, and these patterns are just as easy to understand while also including in-progress and reference photos to help with various details like stitching Rose's hair. The attention to detail as well, such as earrings, and using plastic canvas and foam to help with the couch's structure is wonderful.I have yet to make Sophia using the supplies, but it looks like they give an ample amount of yarn in each color, polyfil, and thread. The flesh tone yarn is a deeper shade of peach than I would like (much deeper than the one Allison used), but should still look okay.If you are expecting a list of exactly what yarns to buy for the other dolls beyond the general color, you won't find one, but all should be relatively easy to find at a local craft store or online.To Allison, I must say thank you for this gift that should have come with "a card attached [that says] thank you for being a friend" to all the Golden Girl fans who want to make a crocheted set of the girls for themselves in addition to all the lovely little extras like a pattern for a Sophia-style coin purse!

I love Allison Hoffman's patterns so much. They are easy to follow and detailed. There a couple, very minor errors and the packaging isn't ideal. (She did share a hack on her Instagram to remove the box to make a smaller book). No review on the yarn as I have yet to use the yarn that is supplied with these kits. I'm not purchasing the kits for the supplies but for the patterns only. So it makes no difference to me.Highly recommend this kit.

My friend loved it

Supplies that come with the kit are good quality, finished Sophia and in the process found a few times where the pattern isn’t great, some parts seem to be too big/small compared to others or it lists assembly instructions out of order. Overall I enjoyed the kit and can’t wait to do the rest of the girls, but I definitely would be tweaking the pattern if I do Sophia again, and don’t trust the patterns to be be perfect for the rest either.

This book is amazing! The patterns are easy to follow and dolls work up quick. The book also includes patterns for several iconic items from my favorite episodes. This is a great price for everything you get! It came with everything I needed to make Sophia and is a great way to find out which materials work best for me because I will be making more than one Sophia! And BONUS I’m using the box for storage of my beads and other things I’ll need specifically for these patterns. The book itself is well made and sturdy and will last me a long time. This book sits perfectly on my book stand while I work from it and also stores perfectly on my book shelf. Great buy!

It was a gift for my daughter. She loved it

*Update - After working the Rose pattern in the book there are 3 errors on the legs for Rows 5 and 25. Both of Rows 25 do not result in the final portion of the heel of the shoe and row 5 of the 2nd leg tells you to skip a large portion of the length of the leg. Leg 1 Row25= 6 stitches along the side (no heel). Leg 2 Row25= Heel ends up on the toe of the shoe. Row 5 second leg only gives you 4 rows of stitches when you need 264 rows. Even the reference picture shows two very different shoes so it is of no help to figuring it out. Also all the dolls have far too many separate pieces that later need to be stitched together including the soles of the shoes. This adds to much extra additional time and work. The head and body could have been 1 piece, legs and arms 4 pieces.My book arrived yesterday and I don't have a single bad thing to say about the patterns themselves. However like everyone else has said, placing the box with the included supplies in the middle of the book was a horrible idea. The book is going to take up a lot of unnecessary space on a bookshelf once the materials are used up. The included yarn is not good quality. The peach yarn is stiff, crunchy and does not glide even a little bit. You will spend some time fighting it. It's ok for practicing with but I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Overall though the patterns are great and should be a lot of fun to create these iconic characters from such a loved show.

My Daughter is a huge fan. When I saw this kit I knew I had to make them for her. I dipped into my yarn stash and was able to use what I had for the Girls. Reasonably priced. I appreciated the stories and the packaging. As long as you pay attention the patterns are easy to follow. I made Blanche a “Citrus Festival Ball” plate (because she worked so hard to get it) and plan on crocheting decorations for the seasons.

Can’t wait to make them all.

I've been a fan of Allison's for quite sometime, I've got everything she has published so I may be a little biased here. But I absolutely LOVED this kit and making Sophia.The book is lovingly filled with references and call backs to the show really clear in its instructions although their is one typo in the pattern for Sophia.The project works up pretty quickly because of the size, which makes it a little fiddly if you're a beginner but the details packed in makes it all worth it.The only downside I had was the materials themselves, being an experienced crocheter I know cheap yarn when I feel it and the skintone provided doesn't match what's seen in the book (for mine I used Allison's own brand of Yarn AmiguruME skin tones) but I think that comes down to the publisher and not Allison herself who puts passion and quality into everything she does.The box for the materials is attached to the book which some people have had problems with but for me personally it doesn't really take away fron the book itself, it's actually quite handy to have a place to store the excess materials once you've completed the project.If you love crochet and The Golden Girls I can't recommend this product enough!!!

These patterns are absolute garbage! I have found so many things wrong with this book! The yarn they give you to crochet with feels like straw and the hook is the wrong size. As I'm making these folks I find more and more mistakes in the pattern itself making it extremely hard to understand how to even make them. Nothing adds up and there are little to no instructions on how to sew in the hair or limbs. I have had to create my own patterns to make these and they look 10x better. I had someone wanting me to to make these golden girls for them, as I have never made this type I decided to buy this book. Rubbish. I have years of experience with crochet and I have never been this upset with a pattern especially spending $50 on something !! Also they only give you material for 1 doll, I know it says that on the front but seriously, spending this type of money was an absolute waste.

This was such a fun pattern to make (def not for beginners though) and they turned out really cute. I made them for gifts and the recipients loved them.

Delivery was so fast expected itvafter the weekend but arrived next day. Prime Amazon. Love this kit. Fantastic value . Only thing is if making all 4 dolls use your own skin tone wool otherwise doll size bit different. If only making Sofia . Fabulous. Cant praise this pattern kit enough. I normally have a fault to find but none here
