Always young and Restless
When I first heard that this book was written by Melody, I couldn't wait to read it. I was so stunned at all you had to gothrew, to get where you are today. Once I started reading I was captivated. I finished your book in 1 day. Once I started reading it was so good I couldn't put it down.. You are definitely a strong and beautiful woman....I am one of your fans. I have watched Y& R since 1973. I loved the book
It was a great read. Finished in one night. As a soap star she has made my day since 1979. It was nice to know that other people can have a tough time also. She and Eric got my mind off my horrid marriage in the 80s for a litle while everyday.

Bill Bell said "Conflict is the Essence of Drama."
I remember first watching "The Young and the Restless," in eighties with a friend. I had watched "Days of Our Lives" and "All My Children," before. The soaps in the eighties were in their prime at that point. There were a dozen soaps on the air. Unfortunately, Melody blamed the OJ trial but there was more to it than that. There are only 4 soaps because the three networks sought to sabotage them. I have watched soaps for about 40 years and most if not all of them. The soaps that were canceled like "Another World;" Guiding Light;" "As The World Turns;" "All My Children" and "One Life to Live" were all New York based soaps and expensive to produce and air. The networks could have relocated the soaps to the West coast or another section.Since this book is about the life of Melody Thomas Scott who has played Nikki on "Young & Restless" for over 40 years. She has lead a complex life. She has been happily married to Edward Scott for over 35 years. They raised three daughters. But not before, Melody had lived a soap opera life of her own.She had been acting since she was a child. She had unhappy childhood. She was raised by a grandmother who was also a hoarder too. Her mother was absent from her life. She had plenty of colorful photographs and stories about Clint Eastwood, Sir Alfred Hitchcock and John Wayne from her film experiences. Melody enjoyed escaping her reality for the make-believe world where she was treated better than at home. She has plenty of stories to tell about her life on the soap after 40 years and counting. She should have a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for Television by now but doesn't.

Love, love, love this book.
Been a dedicated fan of Y&R, and Nikki from the beginning. Such an amazing life she has lived. So full of exciting times. She has really come a long way from such a terrible beginning.

Very enjoyable read!
I've grown up with Nikki Newman since her first appearance on Y & R, and I've enjoyed watching her antics and dilemmas over the years. I've often wondered about the woman behind the character, and after reading this book, I feel as if I know Melody. She is a very down-to-earth and "real" person who is happy and comfortable in her own skin. It's refreshing to feel that I can somehow relate to such an iconic actor. I highly recommend this book. I found it to be a much more comfortable, unpretentious and enjoyable read than that of the late great Jeanne Cooper (though that one's a good book as well).

Survivor
Melody Thomas Scott is a survivor. And she has done so with finesse and overcome such hardships as to make her a hero for others! I loved her story.

Someone I Would Love To Meet!
I have watched Medody Thomas Scott play Nikki for years. After reading this book, in spite of all her success, I think she is "just one of us" with maybe a little more wealth. But she is wealthy in so many ways. Family, friends, talent, understanding. I don't think she puts herself on a pedestal and I would feel very comfortable having her over for coffee in my apartment or going to her home in Beverly Hills. She would immediately put you at ease. Loved the book.

A great read
The book arrived very quickly considering the great volume of orders flying through the mail around the holidays, and it was in perfect condition. Very much enjoyed her story - she shared very intimate and difficult moments in her life. The one small complaint was that I felt it lacked some flow. I would have liked to hear a bit more of her experiences/feelings leading up to her current stardom, and I feel like things were skimmed over. What does she get from acting (apart from a paycheck) that keeps her going (she does mention the fans and she also met her current husband there, so there's that), etc. I was also curious whether she ever developed any relationship with her mother at all (and fair game if she just didn't want to talk about it, I get it). One huge thing I've wondered about is that I've heard her mention in interviews over the years how she was a huge fan of I Love Lucy/Lucille Ball and how it was a comfort to her all these years, yet in the book, there are only a couple of very brief mentions of that show. I would have loved some specifics - when did she watch I Love Lucy, what did it represent to her during her difficult childhood, etc. All in all - a very enjoyable read. I read it in about 24 hours recently when I was sick in bed and I am happy I bought the book - I do wish it were a few chapters longer but all in all, happy.
