The Good Place: The Complete Series [Blu-ray]

I love this show. It's brilliant. There's nothing more to be said about that.This review is about the blu-ray collection, which they call a "The Complete Series (Collector's Edition)" but which doesn't have any "collectables" of any sort, and is in fact incomplete: it's missing what I consider to be "Season 3.5", the six-episode "The Selection" that effectively bridged Season 3 and 4.It's also missing several minutes of extended episodes, which a true collector would of course want, and which is very much available on the NBC site.Overall, while I'm thrilled to own this wonderful show, I'll always know NBC cheaped out.

Picture & sound quality are absolutely top notch in this complete series collection now out on Blu-ray.The Good Place is one of the funniest and most cleverly written sitcoms ever produced on American TV. It's won a Peabody Award, three Hugo Awards, been nominated for fourteen Emmy Awards (including Outstanding Comedy Series), has been placed on The Guardian's list of 100 best TV shows of the century, and the final season has even received a spectacular 100% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes!This fantasy comedy series takes place in an imaginary afterlife in which a truly reprehensible human being is apparently mistakenly sent to a place so exclusive that even Mother Theresa couldn't get in--a place set aside for only the very, very best of humanity.Can a totally self centered & utterly immoral person pass herself off as a good human being? The only thing it's missing is "The Selection", the web series that falls right between seasons three and four. It was absolutely hilarious and really should have been included in the special features of this set. Even taking that one small omission into account, this is a really great buy. I have to thank Shout Factory! for releasing The Good Place on bluray for all of us to enjoy. The DVD version, although just as funny, did not do the spectacular special effects and visual aspects of this show justice. This excellent Blu-ray set couldn't come more highly recommended!

Multiple disks in this box set just rattle around and will NOT fasten in their setting. If it was just one disk, or just one or two, or it merely required a bit of fiddling to get the disks secured? I wouldn't be leaving this review.I wish I'd just bought the individual DVDs instead.Mind you, the show is great from beginning to end. I want more but felt satisfied anyway.I know the box set is missing some extras/extended episodes, and that's frustrating. The actual included extras are something I skimmed and decided I wasn't interested in (Bloopers and ComiCon panels). The disk menus have, well, scenes from episodes you haven't seen yet. That's frustrating too. All forgivable, though. I love this show.

“I think I might hate things now, too. So far, it’s genocide... leggings as pants..." and BluRay discs that don't work.:(Only some of the discs work. I use a PS4 for my BluRay needs. Some of the discs were successful in loading, others kept spinning showing "Unrecognized Disc" Super disappointing after the money that I spent on it.I ordered this because I binged the entire 3 seasons that were available on Netflix. Unfortunately no streaming service has the entire 4th season. I bought this so I could finish the 4th season, and alas neither Season 4 discs work.Unfortunately I waited a month to open this bad boy up, and start Season 4 (we had long term company and only own 1 TV) and now there's no option to return.This rating is only for the product, not the series. Hoping I can find some way to watch season 4 as, the idea of knowing that it's complete and out there but I can't watch it is like my own personalized torture. Guess I'm in the bad place. :(

Review concerns media. We ordered this once, found it would not play in our machine. Ordered a replacement set. Most of the discs in the replacement set would not play in our machine.Others have mentioned poor packaging, used media being passed off as new, etc.These appear to be new discs. The packaging was adequate, but --as noted-- discs would not play.In extreme cases we could not even get the disc to eject from the player unless we pulled the plug on the player.Have NEVER had problems like this with other clean, new discs.

This series is one of the best ever made. It has incredible depth wrapped up in beautiful sets, unexpected plot twists, engaging characters, and brilliant acting. It took me almost two years to go through the blu-ray discs because I didn't want it to end. Then when it did end, it took the subject matter to the highest level while engaging everybody struggling to make it through life. Incredibly entertaining and thought-provoking, an amazing series that will never be topped: a classic for all ages. Bravo!

I have really enjoyed this set. Yes, it would be awesome if the online episodes “The Selection” were available, but oh well. I have noticed there are extra lines and even a whole subplot in a few episodes. They might not be the same “extended episodes” from the dvd sets but a bunch of episodes have some extra scenes in them. I’ve noticed the price on this fluctuate like crazy. I got it at $44 but the next day it was $69 then back down to $55 a few days after. Just be forking mindful.

While this show is excellent and I cannot recommend it highly enough, I feel the UK release of this boxset fails in comparison to the US 'complete collection' released in November 2020. What you get is all four blu rays in a box so if you already have S1-3 then there's nothing extra you would be getting here other than the S4 blu ray which can be bought on its own. The only real extra you get with these dvd versions over the streamed episodes is some extended versions which are fun if you're a die-hard fan but nothing that you miss out a ton of. Also the dvd for S3 is the same as the one released earlier; once again it has no extended versions of any of the episodes, even though S4 does.If you fell in love with the show and you'd like a collection for home viewing in good quality then I'd say to buy this but otherwise stick to streaming and if you already have S1-3 already, just buy the S4 dvd on its own. Hopefully there will be an import of the Complete Series version released in the US to all versions someday but this is not it.

This was a small gift for a friend and I hoped it would give her something to smile about. It did.The cast were without exception brilliant and gelled well. It sounds as if it should be morbid The Good Place is after all about dying and how they all got there, with Ted Danson as the architect of "The Good Place" providing the foil for Kirsten Bells cynical "I am in the Good Place??? persona. No matter your views on after life this slightly loopy take on it should make you smile

This is gentle and funny comedy about four recently dead humans who find themselves in 'The Good Place' , or do they think. But enough said, it's very poignant, about becoming a better person and a journey to also change the system and save humanity from being reset. I will say no more except to fully recommend this show, best American comedy up there with Cheers, Frasier and Pushing Daisies. Watch it and see.

This is one of the best comedies I have seen in a long time from the Yanks. It's funny but also makes you think about your actions throughout your life. Very well written and very well acted by Kristen Bell and Ted Danson. I would recommend you buy this because it also has extended episodes so you can watch it again for the first time.
