works great, using it to mount cell holder in my cars and with proper hardware it works great. Would like to see option with longer screw on it but still made it work

This item has been a game changer by making it a lot easier to tailor car and bedroom cell phone holders to my needs. Took awhile to find these bc I didn’t know what they were called (Are they called 17mm Ball adapters? LOL) but I’m sooooo glad they (this!) exist!What do they do? The two pieces - a ball-prongs and nut - convert a 17mm ball into a 1/4” screw.Mainly bc I use a pop-socket at center/back of my cell phone case, the choices of cell phone holder arm-supports (aka “arm-support”) became limited. The magnetic plate/magnetic arm combo type didn’t work well bc the plate could only fit in the lower section of my cell phone case and bc the center of gravity was so low, my phone would fall to the floor. So, I decided to retrofit my own design using available parts :PI began with a 17mm ball connected to an arm with a cell phone holder-clamp (aka “clamp”) except that the clamps either weren’t easy to use (I couldn’t easily remove my phone) or it just wasn’t strong enough to hold onto my iphone7 plus. After using the aforementioned arm-supports/clamps for some time, I longed to find a better cell phone clamp (which I did find which worked well); however, dreams are dreams and working without this adapter all that time meant that I had to adjust the entire arm-support with every adjustment. Ultimately, the perfect item would allow my ball mounts to connect to better higher quality clamps. of finding an item such as this (plus an additional ball connector) to connect the various arm-supports with the cell phone holder-clamps so that I would have greater flexibility in adjusting the ball joint connected to the clamp rather than to have to adjust the entire arm-support. (I hope this makes sense bc I have no idea of the correct words to describe these items.)This item comes in a pack of one. I ordered two, one for my night stand phone arm-support and one for the suction arm-support hanging from the windshield of my car. This intermediary device allows me (in most cases), the freedom to adjust the cell phone clamp (the part holding my phone) rather than having to adjust the entire arm-support (the arm connecting the clamp to the windshield/headboard). Connections (example):1- Car windshield2- Suction3- Cell phone arm-support with plastic ball joint end4- This adapter with 1/4” screw adapter5- Hot shoe mount with 1/4” screw adapter (aka hot shoe mount 360 degrees swivel mini ball head 1/4 tripod screw adapter for camperas, etc)6- Cell phone clamp7- Cell phoneBuild quality is really good and connections work mostly well. Perhaps bc it is made of plastic, the prongs that surround the 17mm metal ball don’t hold onto the ball as tightly as I’d like even though I’ve hand-tightened the locking nut down as hard as possible without stripping the plastic threads, it can still rotate if pushed hard enough to slip. So if anything, making the prongs a little thicker with a thicker locking nut might help reduce that slight slip is my humble suggestion.If your cell phone employs a pop-socket like mine does, this special adapter might be able to help you devise your own cell phone holder too, just like I did!

I like it but it doesn’t work on my car wireless charger.

I used the tightening nut to replace the one that came with my car and driver radio fm phone holder combo and I tightened it backward so it would fit and it did. Holds my phone up and the tightening nut is stronger than the stock one that cracked in the Arizona heat.
